Nine countries have junior finalists in Astana

Nine countries have junior male finalists at the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan.

India, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Thailand secured at least one final place in the championships.  

Hong Kong, India, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Palestine, Philippines, Tajikistan, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, and Yemen are the 22 participating nations in the event.

Yuga Fujiki and Sardorbek Saidakbarov both were brilliant in their semi-finals

Japan’s best junior boxer, Yuga Fujiki was confident against Kazakhstan’s Asker Kuanysh in the first round of this excellent challenge. The Japanese boxer felt in the second round that he has the possibility to finish their lightweight (60kg) semi-final but Kuanysh survived the most dangerous moments in the middle period. Fujiki found the way between the Kazakh boxer’s gloves to land his jabs and he had the dominant performance to reach his career highlight with the ASBC final. Sardorbek Saidakbarov became Uzbekistan’s second junior finalist following his clear success over Iran’s Ashkan Hashemi.

Durdynepesov is Turkmenistan’s third junior finalist

Uzbekistan’s Shokhjakhon Alisherov and Turkmenistan’s Dayanch Durdynepesov faced in the first semi-final of the light welterweight (63kg) in Astana. The 16-year-old boxer from Turkmenistan surprised his Uzbek opponent with his tough jabs in the first round and four of his clear punches were enough to take the lead on the scorecards. Durdynepesov mobilized all of his power and he boxed over his previous level today which delivered the third junior final place for Turkmenistan. Kyrgyzstan’s Akhmadi Arvaza defeated Iran’s Amirmohammad Rostampour dominating the battle of the southpaw boxers as next.

Rouzbahani and Nurmukhan are the finalists at the welterweight

Iran’s Mohammad Saleh Mesbahi Rouzbahani has excellent technical skills and he used his smart style of boxing against Tajikistan’s Abubakr Gafurov today. The smaller Tajik tried to increase his pressure in the beginning of the second round but Rouzbahani’s counter-shots came from longer distance in time to stop Gafurov. The 16-year-old Iranian was able to keep the same speedy actions until the last bell and he became his nation’s first finalist in Astana. Kazakhstan’s Bekarys Nurmukhan stopped Kyrgyzstan’s Ramazan Isayev in a quick welterweight (66kg) semi-final bout.

Berdaly eliminated his main rival in the semi-finals

Kazakhstan’s Zhassulan Berdaly and Uzbekistan’s Mukhammadsaid Gulomov met in an early final at the light middleweight (70kg) in Astana. The 16-year-old Kazakh had strong national rivals but he was selected by the head coach, Mr. Arkadiy Topayev which was a good decision but Gulomov opened their campaign better. The Kazakh southpaw felt the support of the home crowd, he switched into a higher tempo in time to turn back their semi-final bout which means that he will box for the title with India’s Rahul.

Alpysbayev had a brilliant performance today

Kazakhstan’s Atyrau-based Zhandos Alpysbayev delivered an impressive performance in the evening session and he defeated India’s Sahil in the middleweight (75kg) semi-final. The Kazakh followed the strategy and his fighting spirit was also exemplar therefore his success was clear in this semi-final bout. The 16-year-old Alpysbayev, who earned junior tournament titles in 2023, has strong chance to win the entire championship against Iran’s surprise winner in the semi-finals, Ebadolrahman Dara.

Aitmukhanov won his next bout by RSC

Kazakhstan’s Bakytzhan Aitmukhanov is one of the strongest punchers at the light heavyweight (80kg) in the whole world and the local boxer did not let Chinese Taipei’s Pan Guan Hao to move away from close distance. Pan had speedy footwork in his previous bout but Aitmukhanov’s pressure caused stoppage in the first round. The Kazakh boxer will be facing for the gold medal India’s Hardik Pawar who had a tight contest against Uzbekistan’s Jakhongir Ergashev.
