Ngo Quang Trong eliminated the defending champion in the semi-finals of the Vietnamese Youth & Junior & Schoolboys National Championships
The junior male boxers had 26 semi-finals in Vietnam’s biggest national event of the year which has done its eleventh sessions. The smaller weight classes delivered tough battles in the Vietnam Youth & Junior & Schoolboys National Boxing Championships where the local boxers and the participants from Ho Chi Minh City amazed in the junior semi-finals. Da Nang’s top junior boxer Dinh Van Lenh proved his strength in the session.
Altogether 290 bouts have been arranged in the Vietnam Youth & Junior National Boxing Championships started in Quang Ngai province where schoolboys and schoolgirls have been added to the official program at the very first time. Vietnam’s best referees and judges are all working in the national event to arrange fair play for all of the participants.
The last edition of the Vietnam Youth & Junior National Championships was held in the city of Can Tho in July 2019 and many of the titleholders returned to the competition. The President of the Vietnam Boxing Federation Mr. Tran Minh Tien has been also following all of the actions in the Youth & Junior & Schoolboys National Boxing Championships since the opening ceremony.
The impressive Vietnam Youth & Junior & Schoolboys National Championships will be running until the end of the month due to the extremely high number of participants in Quang Ngai province. The venue of the national event is the Indoor Sport Stadium in the Nguyen Tu Tan street where 458 boxers are in actions.
Nguyen Trung Khan dominated his semi-final in the junior boys 44 kg weight class against Nguyen Tien Phong in the event and remained his gold medal chance alive in the event. His final opponent will be Ho Chi Minh City’s Doan Gia Dai who eliminated Tran Thanh Binh winning the bout by unanimous decision.
Ho Chi Minh City’s Nguyen Minh Hai controlled the first round against Le Tan An but he was able to increase his rhythm to win their contest by RSC in the second period in their pinweight (46kg) semi-finals. He will be facing for the gold medal with Tran Quang Loc in the final who had a clear victory over Hanoi’s Nguyen The Anh.
Huynh Doan Tan Thanh opened his semi-final against Phan The Lam with high intensity and he was able to keep that rhythm until the final gong of their contest. The young light flyweight (48kg) talent will be boxing for the title of this junior category with a local boxer, Ngo Quang Trong who was slightly better than Ho Chi Minh City’s defending champion Doan Gia Thanh.
Da Nang’s best male junior boxer Dinh Van Lenh knocked down his semi-final opponent, Nguyen Ho Huu Dat in the first round and the referee confirmed his RSC success quickly in the second to save his opponent’s health. Dinh needs only one final step to win the flyweight (50kg) in the national event against Vo Minh Tam. A local boxer Tran Tai Em also secured his place in the final of the event after beating Hanoi’s Tran Dinh Bao and will be meeting for the gold medal of the light bantamweight (52kg) with Truong Ngo Gia Huy. Le Duy Khanh controlled all of the rounds of his semi-final at the bantamweight (54kg) against Tran Xuan Sang which means he can box for the title with Nguyen Trung Gia Bao.
