Nepal’s Sunsari District celebrated its 25th jubilee and arranged friendly boxing matches
Nepal is one of our developing boxing countries which arranged an important activity in the Sunsari District after three and half months of stoppage due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Sunsari District Boxing Association celebrated its 25th silver jubilee and the regional organization hosted a gala with show boxing matches.
The Sunsari Boxing Association arranged the celebrations and friendly boxing bouts which was the first event in Nepal since March. The Birat Boxing Club, the Biratnagar Boxing Club and boxers from the Sunsari District attended in the gala event which was followed by the regional President and many other officials from Nepal.
Two talented boys as Birat Boxing Club’s Shekar Limbu met in the first bout with Sunsari District Association’s Swagat Limbu. Birat Boxing Club’s Jessica Shrestha boxed with Sunsari District Association’s Sila Rai in the lone woman contest of the gala.
The new edition of the Bir Ganeshman Singh Memorial National Boxing Championships was planning to be held for their elite female and male boxers at Basantapur Durbar Square, Kathmandu from 31st March until 4th April in 2020 but the event was postponed as many others due to the Coronavirus situation.
The President of the Nepal Boxing Association Mr. Ram Awale, the Coordinator of the Bir Ganeshman Singh Memorial National Boxing Championships Mr. Rajiv Shrestha and Nepal’s further important boxing officials as Mr. Shyam Awale, Mr. Sabin Bhattacharya, Mr. Abhishek Shrestha and Mr. Bishnu Gopal Shrestha are working hard to develop boxing in the schools and in the regions.
