Muminov, Sufijonov and Gafurov are all on the top at the Tajikistan Youth National Championships

The Tajikistan Youth National Championships were held in Dushanbe where their top stars in this age group such as Muinkhudja Muminov, Mekhroj Sufijonov and Ruslan Gafurov all won their weight categories.

The Tajiks competed in the last edition of the ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships achieving several medals in Astana. All of their medallists in the Asian event won the national competition in Dushanbe as well.

The 2006 and 2007 born boxers were eligible to compete in the Tajikistan Youth National Championships which was a selection event for them. Tajikistan is planning to send 10 boxers to the Youth World Boxing Championships to Budva, Montenegro.

Sughd region’s Muinkhudja Muminov amazed in the recent international competitions and he achieved a silver medal in the 2024 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships. The 17-year-old boxer had the speed to catch Abubakr Khasanzoda and he earned the title of the minimumweight (48kg).

Sughd region’s Mekhroj Sufijonov is one of their aces in the youth national team who claimed a gold medal in the 2023 CIS Youth Games as well. The 18-year-old flyweight (51kg) boxer was better than Shodmekhr Davlatov in all aspects of boxing and he earned his next national title.

Anushervon Fozilov is another experienced boxer in the youth national squad and he succeeded in the Youth National Championships after beating Abdulfatokh Saidov at the bantamweight (54kg) final.

Badakhshan’s Damir Muybalikhonov represented Tajikistan in the 2024 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships in Astana where he claimed a bronze medal and he looked too experienced for Jafar Khakimov in the lightweight (60kg) final.

Ruslan Gafurov is only 18 but he has already five years of international experiences with plenty of medals in these period. He claimed a bronze at the 2019 ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships at the age of 13 and a silver in the recent 2024 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships. Tajikistan’s top future hope defeated three good opponents including Akbarjon Makhmudzoda in the final of the light welterweight (63.5kg).

The 17-year-old Mukhammadsulton Sultonov from Dushanbe defeated a national team member in the final of the welterweight (67kg), Abubakr Gafurov. Bakhrombek Khotamov competed in Astana a few months ago and those experiences paid off in the final of the light middleweight (71kg) against Rustam Ashurov.

Khatlon region’s Ziyoratsho Kosimov achieved a bronze medal at the 2023 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships and he joined the youth age group this January. The 17-year-old talent was unstoppable for his opponents and he bagged the middleweight (75kg) title after beating Ismoil Dodoboyev.

Khatlon’s Sunatullo Nozimov will be turning to 17 only in November but he had the strength to beat Dushanbe’s Naimjon Bekov at the heavyweight (92kg). Dushanbe’s Idris Ilnazarov earned the last title of the youth national event, he was better than Amirkhamza Zaripov in their final meeting.
