Muhammadali Istamov used Abdumalik Khalokov’s style to dominate his contest in the evening session

Uzbekistan’s Muhammadali Istamov proved the best performance in the evening session of the fourth competition day in Al Ain, UAE. The Uzbek schoolboy is one of the most skilled competitor in the ASBC Asian Junior & Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Boxing Championships.
Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Nepal, Palestine, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Chinese Taipei, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Vietnam are the participating 26 nations in the event.
The 2008 and 2009 born boxers will be able to compete at the junior age group in Al Ain, UAE. Boxers who were born in 2010 and in 2011 will be eligible to participate in the schoolboys and schoolgirls competition.
Tajikistan’s Firuzjon Boymatov had impressive performance in the Round of 16 and the quick Central Asian amazed once again in his second appearance in Al Ain. The Tajik boy won the first and the third rounds against Iran’s Arshia Radanpour which was enough to join the semi-finals at the schoolboys 37kg weight class. Boymatov will now meet for the final Kyrgyzstan’s Zhasurbek Ikromiddinov who stopped his Sri Lankan opponent.
Tajikistan’s Bekhruz Umarov and Kazakhstan’s Bekkhan Urazbay made a great show in the first quarter-final of the schoolboys 40kg weight class. The Kazakh moved a lot on feet in the first and second rounds to find the best angles and he built up a tight advantage before the last period. Umarov moved forward in the third round but Urazbay had the defensive skills and strong counter-punches to win their outstanding meeting in Al Ain.
Uzbekistan’s Javlonbek Makhammadisakov found the best fighting distance in the end of the first round against Sri Lanka’s Don Anuhas Denuwan Madhubhashana and he controlled all of the exchanges in the beginning of the second. The Sri Lankan was brave in the attacks, he landed some good shots but Makhammadisakov finished the contest in the middle of this 40kg quarter-final.
India’s Nitin used long-distance tactics against Thailand’s Aphichat Pagotiyo in their 40kg quarter-final battle and he was better in that game mostly in the first and second rounds. The Indian won this bout by 4:1 split decision which means that he can box in the semi-finals with Kyrgyzstan’s Ariet Sanzharbekov who eliminated a strong Ukrainian, Artur Kostiuchenko in the last quarter-final of the 40kg.
Ukraine’s Taras Bondaruk moved forward in the first round and he secured a massive advantage against Saudi Arabia’s Azam Alomari who also had nice actions, mainly in the second. The Saudi Arabian had good footwork but he was not effective yet in the attacks to beat a such experienced rival as Bondaruk. The Ukrainian is now a semi-finalist at the 43kg weight class where his next opponent will be Kazakhstan’s Zhumagali Nurmakhan who bowed out a technician boxer from Chinese Taipei.
Uzbekistan’s schoolboy sensation, Muhammadali Istamov lives and trains in the historic city of Bukhara where he works with Saidjamshid Jafarov’s coach. The 14-year-old Uzbek not only dominated his first round against India’s Aryan Choudhary but he used tricky style of boxing with brilliant footwork. The two-time Schoolboys National Champion Istamov boxed as the level of the elite pugilists and the referee stopped this 43kg weight division contest in the second round.
Thailand’s Boonpiphop Charasri followed his opponent’s rhythm in the first minute but the end of the round was for Uzbekistan’s Bekzodbek Ravshanbekov who had the advantage after one and half minute of fight. The Thai did not give up this meeting and he had better performance in the second round but Ravshanbekov’s finish decided their close contest in the quarter-finals of the 46kg weight category.
Sri Lanka’s Dinayadura Sadusha Sathmi De Silva started the first round with strong attacks but his rival, Kyrgyzstan’s Nursultan Zhumataliyev found the best weapon against the South Asian southpaw and he had the strong skills to finish the bout in the middle period. The Kyrgyz boy will meet Ukraine’s Bohdan Shakytko who had a comfortable success over Jordan’s Obeidah Abualshajer in the last bout of the day.
