Mr. Serik Konakbayev and the ASBC management supported DPR Korea’s participation in the ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships
The DPR Korean women’s elite boxing team will be attending in the upcoming ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships in Ho Chi Minh City with high expectations. ASBC President Mr. Serik Konakbayev and the management of the Asian Boxing Confederation cover their delegation’s accommodation costs and foods in Ho Chi Minh City.
DPR Korea is one of the most successful country in the history of the ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships, their female boxers are among the bests not only in the Asian continent but in the whole globe as well. DPR Korea sent 7 boxers to the ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships and all of them are medal hopefuls in their weight classes.
“We are so thankful to ASBC President Mr. Serik Konakbayev and the management of the Asian Boxing Confederation to their financial and other kind of supports. We can compete here in the ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships in Ho Chi Minh City because of their kind supports.
Our most experienced boxer in the team is Incheon 2014 Asian Games winner Jang Un Hui who is our big hope at the middleweight (75kg). Pang Chol Mi and Choe Hye Song competed well this year and their successes in the Ulaanbaatar Box Cup show for us they are ready to do in the highest levels as well. Our boxers trained six months hard for this event so we are expecting top results from them in Ho Chi Minh City.
We have got four big national events every year, first of all our National Championships in all age groups for junior, youth and elite boxers. Secondly, we have got Mangyongdae Prize Tournament also for both genders, furthermore the Bochonbo Tournament and the Son Gun Prize Tournament.
Currently we have got 5300 boxers in all age groups, among them 3200 are male and 2100 are female athletes. The number of the men elite boxers are currently 1100 and we have got 850 women athletes who are competing in our tournaments in DPR Korea. We have selected 170 male and 126 female boxers, they are the first class in our country,” said the Executive Director of the DPR Korea Boxing Association Mr. Jang Song Nam after the Technical Meeting of the ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships.
