The President of the Asian Boxing Confederation and AIBA Vice-President Mr. Serik Konakbayev, furthermore the whole management of the Asian Boxing Confederation congratulate to the re-elected President of the Boxing Association of Sri Lanka to Mr. Dian Gomes who will serve the country’s boxing life in the upcoming four years.
Mr. Dian Gomes will be supported by his Vice-Presidents Mr. Major General Rukmal Dias and Mr. Aubrey Peiris. Secretary of the Boxing Association of Sri Lanka is Mr. Squadron Leader Mohamad Safrask, the Treasurer is Mr. Squadron Leader Prasad Wijesinghe while Sri Lanka’s another boxing engine Mr. Hemantha Weerasinghe will be supporting Mr. Dian Gomes as Personal Advisor.
Sri Lanka developed well in the recent years and their management raised the number of boxers in the South Asian country. Their elite No.1 Dushan Dinidu Saparamadu qualified for the Hamburg 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships from the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Tashkent.
Mr. Dian Gomes is the engine in Sri Lanka’s boxing life whose lifelong dream is to see a Sri Lankan boxer to win a medal in an Olympic Games. The country has got strategic plans to achieve this goal and focusing to their 18-23 years old age group to give them more possibilities to compete in the international level.
Sri Lanka will be sending boxers not only to the main international events as the AIBA and ASBC competitions but training camps and AOB events to England, Hungary, Chinese Taipei, Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia in 2017. Sri Lanka will be hosting also 1-star R&J Course in November and focusing to the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games in 2018.
