Mr. Read Ali Noman – We can manage our problems with work and enthusiasm in Yemen
Mr. Read Ali Noman is the President of the Yemen Boxing Federation which is a developing organization in our continent. Mr. Read Ali Noman introduced Yemen’s current boxing life, their national events and their work to the further developments in the Arabic country which has got great plans for the future.
Yemen sent a squad to the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships to Bangkok, Thailand at the very first time in the history of the competition. The country’s best young boxers are competitive rivals for the Asian top athletes as well therefore Yemen could be a positive sensation in 2018.
– Could you please introduce your country’s boxing life?
– We have got four national events every year in Yemen to select our best athletes in the junior, youth and elite weight classes. Altogether 11 clubs and 500 boxers registered themselves in the Yemeni Boxing Federation but we are planning to raise these figures in the upcoming years to strengthen our background.
Our talent, Arab Youth Champion Ghaleb Mohammad Al-Qarnas proved his talent in the current ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships well enough in Bangkok, he reached the quarter-finals. We competed also in the Arab Youth Boxing Championships and sent boxers to Jordan as well.
– Would you like to tell us your strategic plans for the future and the key developments in your country?
– We are focusing to our youth and junior boxers to develop the background of Yemen’s boxing life. We are planning to send team to the 2018 ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships which will be the qualification event for the Youth Olympic Games furthermore the Asian Games is also in our focus. Depending on the available Coach and R&J Courses, we are planning to send our bests to raise their skills. We are cooperating with the government of Yemen to stabilize our financial issues.
– What are the main strengths and issues in your boxing life?
– Our athletes have got the fighting spirit and boxing is their passion which is our main strength in Yemen. All of our problems in Yemen came from the financial aspect of the sport, any others we can manage with work and enthusiasm.
