Mr. Chaiwat Chotima – Our staff worked almost 24 hours every day to host this ASBC Championships in Bangkok
Thailand hosted the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships, the ASBC General Assembly, the ASBC Executive Committee Meeting and the AIBA Courses in the recent days. Following all of the events and activities are finished in Bangkok we asked the Secretary General of the Thailand Boxing Association Mr. Chaiwat Chotima to summarize his experiences about the last two weeks.
“Our staff in Thailand is very experienced to host major international tournaments, meetings and big events in our country. We had only limited time to prepare to the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships and to the ASBC General Assembly but we tried to do our best and to solve all problems.
Mr. Kraitach Kaewkate, or everybody knows his as Kamp, and his team worked almost 24 hours every day to fix all issues in the recent weeks. We had only small problems during the competition which appeared during on our daily work. We tried to give our best Thai hospitality to all officials, coaches, boxers and delegation members.
We decided to use not our best selections at the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships to test several newcomers in a big event. Asian Games winner Wuttichai Masuk, Cologne Boxing World Cup winner Wuttichai Yurachai, Yuttapong Tongdee and some of our best boxers missed the event this time.
Youth Olympic Games winner Atichai Phoemsap, AIBA Youth World Champion Thitisan Panmod, strong Bannaphon Pannon and AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Peerapat Yeasungnoen just joined from the youth age group and we are preparing them step by step to be on the top of the elite level as well.
Personally I think Somchay Wongsuwan developed strongly since the 2018 Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament and he proved top skills in the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in spite of the fact he did not claim any medal. We will analyze the whole ASBC event and our performance in the upcoming days to reach better results in the next major competition.
Our boxers will be attending in the Boxam Tournament in Spain and in the Grand Prix Usti nad Labem in the Czech Republic on May. We will be hosting dual matches with Sri Lanka and others on June.
Our next big event will be the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament which we call also as King’s Cup to celebrate the coronation of the new king. England, France and many others will be coming to us to train together so the upcoming months will be also excited for us,” said Mr. Chaiwat Chotima after the whole ASBC event.
