Mr. Andrew Caulfield – The Asian Boxing Confederation provided once again an amazing platform for all of the young boxers
Mr. Andrew Caulfield worked as Observer at the ASBC Asian Junior & Schoolgirls & Schoolboys Boxing Championships which was held in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. The Scottish official shared his experiences and analysed the championships after the Technical Delegate of the event.
Scotland’s most prominent boxing official, Mr. Andrew Caulfield returned to the ASBC competitions after a short break and he has the strong experience in our continent’s major boxing events.
Mr. Caulfield worked in all levels of boxing during his impressive career, including the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, European Games, Panamerican Games, and several editions of the World Boxing Championships and Asian Boxing Championships.
“The Asian Boxing Confederation provided once again an amazing platform for all of the young boxers to perform and showcase their current skills. The venue for these championships was the highest level, a new vibrant facility that is ideal for hosting large events.
The local organizers did a great job providing support for everyone involved and the boxing was top level. We could recognize fantastic skills, great show everyday and the coaches worked tirelessly with their boxers to deserve enormous credit. I enjoyed seeing their emotions in winning and losing, supporting their young boxers.
Having supported the Asian Boxing Confederation as an Observer several times, I was surprised with the strength and skills from Iran’s and Tajikistan’s boxers. Both countries produced great talents for the future, they impressed me in Al Ain.
Chinese Taipei was also special in this event, their little schoolgirl at the 43kg weight class was fantastic as a person and as a boxer. As usual, the main powers such as Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan were strong in this competition, Elyor Rustamov, the best junior boxer showed skills as an elite athlete. The coaches are doing fantastic work in these countries.
The Referees & Judges faced a tough job as the first championships after the Paris Olympic Games and the size of the event was equal as a World Championships. There was a mix of great experience and new referees in Al Ain, they worked well every day, and they knew that what we expect from their side to provide the fair play in the championships.
This group of Referees & Judges received support from the Evaluators and myself every day to keep their level on the top. Everyone have done a great job in the event and we had a very good team of ITOs. The future is very bright for Asia, ASBC is currently the leader in our sport.
I congratulate to the best referee and judge, both worked honestly and well in this huge championships,” said Mr. Andrew Caulfield after the successful event.
