Mr. Ali Takleef – In spite of our difficulties in Iraq we attended in the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships

Iraq’s boxing life is in developing stage in spite of their difficulties in the country and sent a delegation to the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships. Mr. Ali Takleef is the newly elected President of the Iraqi Boxing Federation who shared us their strengths and weaknesses in their boxing life. Mr. Waleed Alalkawi the International Director of the Iraqi Boxing Federation was supported the interview and the translation.
“The accommodation, the transport, the venue, the food and all things which related to the competitions are high level in Bangkok and we are satisfied with all matters. The level of the boxers is also on the top in the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships. I believe all of the Asian regions demonstrated their developments in Thailand.
Iraq was not able to prepare well enough to this ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships but we tried to do our best and fight here in Bangkok. We had only two months preparation time to this Asian event due our difficulties in the country.
Our boxers attended only in the Great Silk Way Tournament in Baku, Azerbaijan before the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships. Due the financial issues we sent only two of our best boxers to Thailand. The National Olympic Committee and the Sports Ministry were not in position to support us this time.
We have two national events for schoolboys, juniors, youth and elite boxers as well in Iraq every year. We could raise the number of participants up to 250 on these national competitions in Iraq.
We are planning to send our boxers as many events as possible this year to compete in the AIBA and ASBC championships. When we will be travelling back to home we will start the discussion with the Government to achieve more funds,” said Iraq’s President Mr. Ali Takleef in Bangkok.
