Most of the venues and sport facilities are completed for the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games
The Asian Games is the largest multisport event not only in the continent but in the world as well with the participation of more than 11,000 athletes. The 2022 edition of the Asian Games will be held in the city of Hangzhou where more than 70% of the venues and sport facilities are ready according to the plans of the LOC.
Hangzhou is the third Chinese city to host an Asian Games after the Beijing 1990 and the Guangzhou 2010 editions. Hangzhou was awarded as the host city of the event during the 34th OCA General Assembly which took place in 2015. Since then the preparation of the Chinese city for the 2022 Asian Games is exceptional which includes shorten travels in the region.
The main venue of the 2022 Asian Games is the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Stadium which was completed in 2018 with the capacity of 80,000 spectators. The stadium will be the venue of the Opening Ceremony which is planning to take place on September 10 in 2022.
The construction of the 58 venues began a few years ago when Hangzhou received the right to host the 2022 Asian Games from the Olympic Council of Asia. Altogether 42 out of the 58 facilities will be completing in Hangzhou by the end of the year according to the plans of the local organizers.
All of the constructional work has been stopped for several weeks in the city and also in Zhejiang Province due to the spread of the Covid-19 Coronavirus. The constructions continued in Hangzhou last month with strict rules and health check of the workers on a daily basis and following that decision the local organizers will be able to keep their deadlines.
Following the official announcement of the Olympic Council of Asia, 40 sports have been involved to the 2022 Asian Games including boxing. Our sport is in the official program of the Asian Games since the Manila 1954 edition.
