More than 200 boxers will compete at the Boxam Tournament this week

The Technical Meeting and the Official Draw of the Boxam Tournament were held at the Melia Benidorm Hotel in the late evening. The Boxam Elite Tournament is one of the main preparation competitions before the 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event.

The venue of the elite international competition is the Pabellon Muixara in La Nucia, not far from the city of Benidorm.

Altogether 208 boxers are there in the event and there will be 183 bouts in the five-days long competition in La Nucia. Boxers who were born between 1984 and 2005 are eligible to compete in the Boxam Elite Tournament.

Bahrain, Belgium, Chinese Taipei, England, France, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mali, Mexico, Palestine, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Scotland, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Trinidad & Tobago, Uzbekistan, and Wales are the participating countries in La Nucia.

The local organizers will host the competition in two rings due to the high number of female and male boxers. The President of the Royal Spanish Boxing Federation, Mr. Felipe Martinez was satisfied with the number of the participating countries and the quality of the entries.

Mr. Waldemar Mencel of Austria is the Technical Delegate of the Boxam Elite Tournament who introduced all of the important rules of the competition, the schedule, the transportation, the test scales, the weigh-in protocols and all of the other details.  

The session in the first, second, third and fourth competition days will be starting at 3pm and transportations are available from 2pm to the venue.  

The Opening Ceremony of the Boxam Tournament will be held during the break of the first competition day at 5pm on Tuesday. The 12 female and 13 male finals will feature also in two rings from 4pm on Saturday. The Official Draw was held after the Technical Meeting in Benidorm which confirmed the line-ups and pairings of the weight categories. All of the weigh-ins will be taking place in the Melia Hotel Benidorm from tomorrow.
