Lei Chao I won the Macau Open and he is the country’s new schoolboy sensation

The Macau Boxing Association hosted its Open Boxing Championships and eleven contests were on the fightcards in this gala event.

Mr. Billy Vong is the key person in Macau’s boxing life who arranged all of the recent boxing events in the country, summer training programs, Open Boxing Championships, business programs, public activities and courses in the previous years.

The Macau Academic College Summer Camp took place with the participation of young students on July-August which was their next activity next to the Macau Open Boxing Championships.

Lei Chao I began boxing more than five years ago and he competed in 10 various events despite his young age. Macau’s best ever schoolboy boxer won his next contest against Shang Ke Wei in the 35kg weight class during the Open.

There were only one female contest in the new edition of the Macau Open Boxing Championships which was won by Wang Si Bo at the women’s bantamweight (54kg) after beating Chan Chi Ting.

Chong Cheng Chong and Yun Chun Hang managed to win their lightweight (60kg) contests in the Macau Open, both boxers won their finals unanimously.

Alvin John Reyes Salinas, Macau’s best elite boxer suffered an unexpected loss at the men’s light welterweight (63.5kg) in the event. He had more than 30 tough contests during his career but Leong Kuk Hong was slightly better than Reyes Salinas in the final bout.

Ho Long Iat claimed only a silver medal in the 2023 Macau Open but he changed that into gold in the new edition. Macau has mostly boxers in the smaller categories but their new light heavyweight talent, Leong Man Hou impressed in the final against Lei Nam Ting.

Macau’s best boxers will be participating also at the upcoming 2024 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships and at the 2025 Chinese National Games.
