Dedicated to the 95th year celebration of boxing in Kyrgzstan, the Kurnyavka Prizes Schoolboys Tournament will get going on November 23 to 27 at the Kozhomkul Sports Palace in the capital city of Bishkek.

Young aspirants born in 2008 and 2009 are eligible to join the tourney which will be held to commemorate the first-ever boxing competition organized in the Kyrgyz Republic in 1927.

Champions in this tilt will get a chance to be scouted and selected for the national team that will compete in the ASBC Asian Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Championships 2022 set on November 27 to December 4 in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq.

Respected referee and judge Mr. Mukash Yrsaliev serves as the main organizer of the tournament named after former national star Mr. Andrey Kurnyavka.

Kurnyavka emerged as the world middleweight champion in Moscow back in 1989. He then won a silver medal in the next edition of the AIBA World Championships in Sydney two years later.

He came out of retirement to represent Kyrgyzstan in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics but fell short in a tight opening bout against eventual winner Felix Savon of Cuba.
