Kostanay to host 2 international events next month

Two international tournaments will be hosted by Kostanay in November, making the city a rising boxing hub in Kazakhstan.

First up is the Kostanay Coaches Memorial Tournament for elite men boxers set on November 1 to 5.

Dedicated to the legendary trainers from the USSR and Kazakhstan, the competition will feature all 13 male weight divisions starting from minimumweight (48kg) to super heavyweight (+92kg).

Uzbekistan’s youth world champion Shakhzod Muzaffarov emerged as one of the notable winners in the inaugural edition of the Kostanay Coaches tourney last year.

Meanwhile, the Miroshnichenko Junior Memorial Tournament will follow suit on November 14 to 18, pitting male junior pugs in 14 weight classes from 44kg to +80kg (heavyweight).

The junior tilt was named after the late Mr. Aleksandr Miroshnichenko, a silver medalist in the AIBA World Championships 1989 in Moscow and a bronze winner in the Seoul Olympics 1988.

Kostanay previously hosted the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament which served as a preparation for the IBA Youth World Championships 2022 slated on November 13 to 27 in La Nucia, Spain.
