Kenesbayev, Vanshaj lead Asians’ push on Day 3 of youth world tourney

Defending ASBC youth champions Aynazar Kenesbayev and Vanshaj spearheaded the charge for the Asian pugs in the IBA Youth World Boxing Championships 2022 on November 17 at the Ciudad Deportiva Camilo Cano in La Nucia, Spain.

Uzbekistan’s Kenesbayev proved too strong for Mexico’s Angel Daniel Lopez as the 17-year-old Asian heavyweight (92kg) champ claimed a lopsided 5-0 win.

India’s Vanshaj continued his winning ways in the light welterweight (63.5kg) division after demolishing Japan’s Masatake Yoshizumi, 5-0.

Former Asian junior titlists Javokhir Ummataliyev of Uzbekistan and Jhoon Bharat of India subdued separate Spanish foes on the third day of competition.

Ummataliyev crushed Ganda Coulibaly Socko, 5-0, in welterweight (67kg) while Bharat battered Ruben Ibanez with the same scoreline in heavyweight.

Iran’s Aryan Saedpanah came through with a 5-0 stunner over three-time ASBC medalist Argen Baktybekov of Kyrgyzstan even as South Korea’s Shin Yoo Seung upset the more experienced Olaf Pera of Poland, 3-1, in heavyweight.

In the flyweight (51kg) class, Golden Gloves of Vojvodina Youth Tournament winner Jadumani Singh Mandengbam of India controlled the tempo against Azerbaijan’s Amin Mammadzada en route to an easy 5-0 victory. Thailand’s Wacharakorn Junthasorn, Japan’s Rui Yamaguchi, Kazakhstan’s Islam Mashkentayev and Chinese Taipei’s Ciou Jheng also emerged victorious in flyweight.
