Kazakhstan’s top female youth duo as Tanatar and Seidish advanced to the finals in Astana

India, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan shared the final places in the women’s youth age group at the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan on Day8. Kazakhstan’s best youth hopes such as Assem Tanatar and Bakyt Seidish both advanced to the finals in the evening session.

Hong Kong, India, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Palestine, Philippines, Tajikistan, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, and Yemen are the 22 participating nations in the event.

Tanatar vs. Deepa for the title of the light welterweight

Kazakhstan’s Assem Tanatar was bronze medallist at the 2022 Youth World Boxing Championships and the 18-year-old talent had to spent only one and half round in the ring against Kyrgyzstan’s Aizhamal Adylbekova. The Kyrgyz was taller than her Kazakh opponent but Tanatar had the routine to reduce the fighting distance successfully to win their contest by RSC. India’s Deepa used her height advantage to beat Uzbekistan’s Sitora Bakhodirova and she will be Tanatar’s final opponent.

Bakyt Seidish joined her next final

India’s Kajal competed in the Youth National Games, Junior National Championships and Youth National Championships but she does not have too much experience in the international stage yet. The Indian landed more punches in the first round than Chinese Taipei’s Jhuo Yu Ting and she had the advantage on the judges’ scorecards. Jhuo’s ringside abandoned their contest after two warnings to avoid the disqualification therefore Kajal joined the final of the welterweight (66kg). Kazakhstan’s Youth World Champion Bakyt Seidish was too strong for Uzbekistan’s newcomer Aysanaem Saruarova and she joined her next big final.

Oysha Toirova advanced to her third Asian final

Uzbekistan’s two-time ASBC Asian Junior Champion Oysha Toirova joined the youth age group only this January but she adopted the longer rounds quickly and she arrived in Astana as the gold medal favourite at the light middleweight (70kg). The 17-year-old Uzbek had powerful combinations against Chinese Taipei’s Huang Xin and the referee stopped their contest after the third standing count. India’s Pranjal Yadav was too smart for Kazakhstan’s Aziza Issina and she will now meet for the gold Toirova, the Uzbek star.

Nalibay had a surprise success at the middleweight

Sanobar Bozorboyeva had strong pedigree before the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships and the Uzbek girl proved her excellence in the semi-final of the middleweight (75kg) against Chinese Taipei’s Chang Chung Chin. The Uzbek finished the contest quicker than she expected and secured her place in an Asian final once again. Bozorboyeva will be boxing for the title Kazakhstan’s Asian Junior runner-up Shugyla Nalibay who caused the main surprise of the session with her unexpected success over India’s Youth World Championships silver medallist Muskan.

Pooniya Khushi had tough

India’s Pooniya Khushi was quicker than Kazakhstan’s Anelya Kalyssova in the first round of the semi-final and she used an attacking style of boxing. Khushi caught the inexperienced Kazakh with heavy shots in the first and second rounds and she had the confidence to beat the local youngster at the light heavyweight (81kg). Khushi’s final opponent will be Uzbekistan’s Diyorakhon Abdumannobova who got the bye in the semi-finals.

India’s Kirti won the last bout of the day

India’s Kirti and Kazakhstan’s Umit Abilkaiyr both have strong results at the heavyweight (+81kg) in the previous two years. The Kazakh boxer used her 15cm height advantage in the first round but she was not able to keep the Indian on long all the time therefore she lost the opener 4-1 on the scorecards. The last year’s silver medallist Indian worked hard until the last bell to win this contest and she will now meet for the gold Uzbekistan’s Youth World Championships silver medallist Oltinoy Sotimboyeva.
