Kazakhstan’s Saken Bibossynov eliminated Uzbekistan’s Hasanboy Dusmatov, India’s Deepak, Colombia’s Yuberjen Martinez and Thailand Boxing Federation’s 19-year-old Thanarat Saengphet during his road to the final at the flyweight (51kg). The 24-year-old Kazakh claimed bronze medal at the Yekaterinburg 2019 AIBA World Boxing Championships and met with United States’ Roscoe Hill.
The Kazakh boxer gained the control immediately and he ruled the middle of the ring against the passive US boy who trusted on his counter-attacks. Bibossynov used the perfect strategy against him and his speed was enough to control their final bout in Belgrade. Bibossynov was focused, landed more punches and after two rounds of massive leading, the US boxer could not change his tactic. Following Temirtas Zhussupov, their Saken Bibossynov won Kazakhstan’s second gold medal in the AIBA World Boxing Championships.
Kazakhstan’s Serik Temirzhanov achieved a valuable silver medal in Belgrade
Kazakhstan’s Serik Temirzhanov robbed into the world of boxing in 2016 when he achieved gold medal at the ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships. He joined to the elite national team in the end of 2019 following his successes in the international tournaments. The Pavlodar-based Kazakh boxer had some unexpected losses this year but he learnt a lot on those bouts and impressed in the AIBA World Boxing Championships.
Temirzhanov was in top form in this event and defeated Cuba’s Osvel Caballero in the crucial semi-final. The 23-year-old Kazakh met with United States’ Jahmal Harvey in the final but he was too exhausted after the tough and narrow battles. Harvey was slightly quicker in their exchanges therefore Temirzhanov achieved silver medal in this AIBA World Boxing Championships which is his career highlight.
