Kazakhstan’s heavyweight champion Lazzat Kungeibayeva – It was an amazing comeback with a gold medal in Dubai

Kazakhstan’s Lazzat Kungeibayeva is one of the strongest girls at the heavyweight (+81kg) in the whole world and she proved her dynamism and power in the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships in Dubai. Following her one silver and three bronze medals in the previous editions since 2012, she arrived to the top of the podium in Dubai.

Kungeibayeva has got eleven years of international experiences and her career highlight was a gold medal at the Astana 2016 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships. The 34-year-old Kazakh heavyweight (+81kg) boxer was heavier than India’s Anupama who is a young hope in the category. The Indian talent had excellent youth results and she was competitive against the Central Asian but due to the great finish of the Kazakh boxer, Kungeibayeva won the last women’s final in Dubai.

“I am so happy that finally I succeeded in the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships. The level of the competition was the highest one, and I defeated both of my opponents in Dubai. I expected to the gold medal but I did not box for a long time and it was amazing to comeback with a title.

I attacked more in the final than my Indian opponent, and I had a very simple tactic to move forward from the first seconds until the last. We had nice celebrations when we arrived back to Kazakhstan and our team felt the support of the fans and the federation. My weight category is not an Olympic division therefore my focus is on the upcoming AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships where I am planning to take another gold,” said Kazakhstan’s gold medallist Lazzat Kungeibayeva after her arrival back to home.
