Nine out of the eleven semi-finalist Kazakh youth girls advanced to the finals at the ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships Astana, Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan’s Anel Abdrasilova started the first round slightly better than Chinese Taipei’s Yang Yin Chi but her opponent switched her tempo in time to turn back their bout. Chinese Taipei’s new female sensation landed clear shots in the second round and after the third standing count, the referee stopped their minimumweight (48kg) semi-final. Yang’s final opponent will be Uzbekistan’s Jasmin Tokhirova who turned back her contest against India’s newcomer, Annu.
Uzbekistan’s Khilolakhon Mashrabova had several difficulties against Mongolia’s Nomundari Enkh-Amgalan in the first round of their light flyweight (50kg) semi-final. The Mongolian was a hard target for Mashrabova and her excellent technical skills led her to score from counter-attacking range. Enkh-Amgalan is in shape and her stylish boxing guaranteed her place in the final where she will now meet India’s Laxmi for the gold.
Uzbekistan’s Asian Junior Champion Zilolakhon Yusufova was smaller than India’s Nisha and it was hard for her to reach the opponent. The Uzbek flyweight (52kg) boxer could not maintain the best distance in their semi-final and Nisha secured her spot in the day of the finals on Monday. The Indian will be fighting for the gold medal with Kazakhstan’s Bagzhan Otynbay who triumphed over Vietnam’s Luc Thao Thanh.
India’s Tamanna is an experienced boxer at the women’s bantamweight (54kg) who worked well in the first round against Vietnam’s Vu Thi Thom and she had the advantages on the scorecards. Vu was not an easy opponent and she found her distance in the second round therefore Tamanna needed one more strong period to beat the Vietnamese today. Kazakhstan’s Junior World Champion Ayazhan Sydyk won the second semi-final in this weight class, she defeated Uzbekistan’s Uzukjamol Yunusova.
Kazakhstan’s Ayazhan Yermek has strong pedigree from the previous international competitions and she tried to control the first round against India’s Shirishkumar Patel Yatri with her jabs. The Kazakh featherweight (57kg) boxer had better shots in the first and second rounds to win their semi-final battle in the front of the local crowd. Yermek’s final opponent will be her neighbour, Feruza Sharipova of Uzbekistan who eliminated her No.1 Kyrgyz rival, Medina Abyldayeva.
Tolganay Kassymkhan earned junior titles last year and she joined to the youth national team this January with impressive results. She adopted the longer rounds easily and the Kazakh No.1 had the strength to keep the control against Uzbekistan’s newcomer Rakhima Bekniyazova in the first and second rounds. The 17-year-old Kazakh was still enough fresh to win their lightweight (60kg) semi-final and the dream final with India’s Nikita Chand has realized in Astana.
Kazakhstan’s Aruzhan Zhangabayeva is the next star in their female youth national team who surprised India’s Shrusthi Sachin Sathe with her energetic attacks. The Kazakh light welterweight (63kg) boxer focused to her third Asian title in Astana but the Indian turned back their semi-final with effective combinations in the second part of the contest, delivering a huge surprise today. The India will now meet for the gold medal Uzbekistan’s Odinakhon Ismoilova who eliminated China’s Bai Yutong in a hectic bout.
Kazakhstan’s Shugyla Nalibay is the defending champion at the women’s middleweight (75kg) and the 18-year-old boxer made a remarkable performance in the day of the semi-finals. She needed only one and half minute to stop another experienced boxer, Uzbekistan’s Sanobar Bozorboyeva and will now face India’s Rudrika for the gold medal. Her teammate, Aruzhan Zeynollayeva also eliminated an Uzbek boxer, Rukhshona Parpiyeva at the light heavyweight (81kg).
