Kazakhstan claimed eight gold medals in the men’s finals of the 2nd Elorda Cup

The male finals took place at the 2nd Elorda International Cup in Astana, Kazakhstan and four nations shared the gold medals. Kazakhstan bagged eight male gold medals, Uzbekistan became the runner-up with three titles, China and Tajikistan both won one weight class.
The Elorda Cup was a money prize event, all of the gold medallists earned 700 USD, the silver medallists 400 USD and the two boxers who took the bronze medals each got 200 USD from the local Kazakh organizers.
Bahrain, China, India, Japan, host Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan sent boxers to the 2nd edition of the Elorda Cup to the capital city of Kazakhstan. The ASBC Vice-President Mr. Aziz Kozhambetov visited the event and followed all of the actions in Astana.
Temirtas Zhussupov was the World Champion at the minimumweight (48kg) two years ago and his skills guaranteed his success over a young talent, Yernur Kairat in the first final. Saken Bibossynov was also World Champion in 2021 and he had the speed to beat Kenzhe Muratuly at the flyweight (51kg) final.
Bahrain’s Azat Makhmetov eliminated two top boxers at the bantamweight (54kg) but a younger Kazakh, Timur Kabdesh stopped him to take the gold medal. Makhmud Sabyrkhan, the World Champion, eliminated another star, Serik Temirzhanov in the most important semi-final bout of the Elorda Cup, and he walked over to the title of the featherweight (57kg).
Yertugan Zeinullinov earned the title of the light welterweight (63.5kg), following his narrow success over Thailand’s strong Khunatip Pidnuch. Nurkanat Raiys defeated his main local rival, Dias Molzhigitov once again, while Abzal Kuttybekov and Sagyndyk Togambay also succeeded in their finals.
Uzbekistan’s trio such as Dilshod Abdumurodov (60kg), Khavasbek Asadullayev (71kg) and the two-time ASBC Asian U22 Champion Jakhongir Zokirov (+92kg) all won their weight classes at the 2nd Elorda Cup. The 20-year-old Zokirov defeated China’s promising Bayikewuzi Danabieke in the fantastic final of the super heavyweight (+92kg).
Tajikistan’s new sensation Shamsher Saidov amazed at the welterweight (67kg) in the Elorda Cup, he controlled his bouts with beautiful technique and he earned an unexpected gold medal. Saidov defeated Kazakhstan’s ASBC Asian Youth Champion 20-year-old Yelnur Suyunbay in the final of the weight class.
Their No.1, Tuohetaerbieke Tanglatihan, the silver medallist from the 2023 World Boxing Championships, achieved China’s lone male gold medal in Astana. He had a tough road to the final of the light heavyweight (80kg) and walked over to the title as his Uzbek opponent, Jasurbek Yuldashev was unable to box against him in the last day of boxing.
