Kazakhstan’s Youth World Championships silver medallist Nurbek Mursal and Uzbekistan’s Shavkatjon Boltayev are the top stars in the youth world of boxing but they had to meet each other already in the semi-finals. The 18-year-old Kazakh was taller than the strong Uzbek and he used it up as a perfect weapon in the first round. Boltayev, the previous ASBC Asian Junior Champion, landed stronger shots in the second round and he caught the local boxer with heavy shots. Boltayev had the decisive shots in the third round and the Uzbek will be meeting for the gold medal India’s Ankush who had a unanimous success over Chinese Taipei’s Chuang Chuan Hung.

Baurin vs. Sovetov in the final at the light middleweight

Kyrgyzstan’s Vadim Baurin is a strong puncher therefore his semi-final opponent, Tajikistan’s Bakhrombek Khatamov tried to box from longer distance in the first round. The 18-year-old Kyrgyz light middleweight (71kg) boxer used his pressure to eliminate Tajikistan’s last youth hope in Astana and he marched to the final. Kazakhstan’s Islam Sovetov and India’s Preet Malik competed already at the 2021 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships therefore they had the experience how to handle a semi-final mentally. The ASBC silver medallist Sovetov controlled all of the three rounds and he secured his next final in a major championship.

Youth World Champion Erkinboyev was confident in his semi-final

Uzbekistan’s 18-year-old Fazliddin Erkinboyev, the Youth World Champion, knocked down Kazakhstan’s Aldiyar Abdillayev in the first minute of their fight which determined their opener and the results on the scorecards. The Uzbek middleweight (75kg) boxer was confident and he recognized the best tactics against the local boy quickly therefore he had a massive advantage after two rounds. Erkinboyev’s final opponent will be Vietnam’s Pham Dang Luu who walked over to the title contest due Turkmenistan’s Yhlas Bagtyyarov suffered a hand injury in his quarter-final.

Stars at the light heavyweight final: Tulemissov and Ummataliyev

Kazakhstan’s Daulet Tulemissov, the Youth World silver medallist and the runner-up from the last ASBC Asian Youth Championships, defeated South Korea’s Kim Min Seong in the first semi-final at the light heavyweight (80kg) but his opponent was competitive. Tulemissov did not perform in the same strong way as in the quarter-finals and due to the strong Korean attacks in the third, he won this bout only by split decision. Another dream final in the men’s youth competition accomplished, as Tulemissov will now meet for the title Uzbekistan’s Javokhir Ummataliyev.

Abdurakhmonov and Litvinov are the next finalists

The cruiserweight (86kg) is a strong category with big punchers on the board in this championship but Uzbekistan’s ASBC Asian Youth Champion Abdulaziz Abdurakhmonov and Kyrgyzstan’s Azim Choybekov did not land enough shots in their meeting. The Uzbek controlled the exchanges but Choybekov was a competitive rival until the very end of the contest. Kazakhstan’s Viktor Litvinov was too strong for South Korea’s Shin Min Seung in the second semi-final of the category.

Joon Bharat eliminated a strong local hope

Kazakhstan’s Nurzhan Duman eliminated a top Uzbek opponent, the defending champion Aynazar Kenesbayev in the quarter-final stage of the heavyweight (92kg) but he was not able to keep India’s Joon Bharat’s rhythm today. The ASBC Asian Junior Champion Indian overcame his local opponent in the attacks and he was able to win this contest with superior performance. The Indian is a genius in this weight class and he is the favourite for the gold medal against South Korea’s Nam Chan Hyeong who eliminated Turkmenistan’s Mustapa Muhammetdurdyyev.
