Kazakhstan and Iran won superb quarter-finals in Budva

Kazakhstan had fantastic triumphs at the eighth competition day at the IBA Youth World Boxing Championships in Budva, Montenegro but Iran also exceeded the expectations.

Afghanistan, China, DPR Korea, Hong Kong, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, Palestine, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are the participating 13 Asian nations in the IBA Youth World Boxing Championships.

Altogether 73 nations and 593 boxers are participating in the IBA Youth World Boxing Championships in Budva which makes the event the biggest competition of the globe this year.

Uzbekistan’s Zilolakhon Yusufova was smaller than Yelyanur Turganova of Kazakhstan but she used her speed in the exchanges in the battle of the Asian Champions. Yusufova moved down to the light flyweight (50kg) for this championship and she started the first round well but Turganova’s longer reach controlled the second. The 18-year-old Kazakh reached the semi-finals of the weight class and she bowed out one of the top favourites.

China’s Chen Yanfen won the Belt & Road International Youth Tournament just before the start of the Youth World Boxing Championships. The Chinese flyweight (52kg) boxer was not only technically dominant in her quarter-final against Romania’s Luciana Maria Petrache but she stopped the European rival.

Kazakhstan’s newcomer in the youth national team, Bagzhan Otynbay made a great comeback after a deep situation and she turned back the fight against Mexico’s Valentina Munoz. China’s next boxer in action, Wang Miqi also won her quarter-final bout against Greece’s Panagiota Kouzilou at the featherweight (57kg).

Iran’s Amir Esmaeili Vandaei, the Asian Youth Champion at the super heavyweight (+92kg), met Russia’s Batraz Mildzikhov in an early final and he tried to keep the focus from the first seconds. The 18-year-old Iranian tried to reduce the difference between their weight in speed and he eliminated the Russian Youth National Champion today.

Kazakhstan’s Aslan Yeldibayuly moved up to the super heavyweight (+92kg) only in the previous weeks and he had difficulties in the second round against Kyrgyzstan’s Myrzakir Koshaliyev. The Kazakh has excellent athletic skills and despite he received several punches from the Kyrgyz side, he won a guaranteed medal in Budva.

China’s Dina Shanatibieke won almost all of her contests this year and the 18-year-old welterweight (66kg) boxer had only a warm-up in the quarter-finals against Lesotho’s Mokoma Reitumetse. The referee stopped the bout after the second standing counts and confirmed the RSC success of the Xinjiang-based Chinese boxer.

Uzbekistan’s Sobirakhon Shakhobiddinova, the three-time Asian Champion, arrived in Budva as one of the favourites and she opened her campaign with a quick success against Slovenia’s Lara Marie Kern at the women’s heavyweight (+81kg). Following her quick RSC success, she will now meet for the final, her main Asian opponent, Kazakhstan’s Panar Seitkhankyzy in a classic re-match.

Kazakhstan’s Beksultan Boranbek had successes in the previous Asian events but he delivered his best ever performance with perfect timing today. The Kazakh flyweight (51kg) boxer was a hard target for his opponent, Russia’s Anatoliy Rebedyuk and his phenomenal footwork caused an easy success for Boranbek.

Iran’s Mehdi Kazemi and Afghanistan’s Emal Hamdam both had nice triumphs during their road to the quarter-finals at the men’s flyweight (51kg). After the equal first round, the Iranian caught the tall Afghan with heavy punches and the referee counted Hamdam in the second round which was enough for him to win a medal in Budva.

The Kazakhs made a fantastic day in the final session of the quarter-finals, their next hope, Zhanseri Kosherbayev eliminated Turkmenistan’s last remaining boxer in Budva, Ysmayyl Gurbanberdiyev. Kazakhstan’s ASBC Asian Youth Champion Oner Seilkhan dominated the last bout at the light middleweight (71kg), Albania’s Ahmed Koci.
