Kazakhstan and India were the best nations in the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships on Day2

The ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships continued with its second competition day in Puerto Princesa, Philippines where 30 preliminary and quarter-finals bouts have been held. The winners in several weight classes are already guaranteed medallists in the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships.
The following nations won at least one contest in the second competition day of the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships:
– India, Kazakhstan: 7 victories
– Uzbekistan: 5 victories
– Japan: 3 victories
– South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Thailand: 2 victories
– Chinese Taipei, Iraq: 1 victories

Light flyweight (48kg):
Philippines’ Criz Russu Laurente came from a strong boxing family and he showed his skills in Puerto Princesa in his first preliminary bout. The 15-year-old Filipino talent eliminated China’s Cai Yujun in his debuting contest in the front of the home crowd but he was not able to repeat his tough performance against Kazakhstan’s Junior National Champion Makhmud Sabyrkhan. The young Kazakh boxer launched high number of attacks and his sensational performance meant, Sabyrkhan was able to beat the main gold medal contender of the event. The Kazakh boxer will be meeting with Uzbekistan’s Junior National Champion Ruslan Abdullaev in the semi-final of the event.
India’s Sidhartha Malik joined to the national team this year following his title in the Junior National Championships. The Indian boxer used counter-attacks in the bout against South Korea’s Seo Dong Geun which was successful in the whole quarter-final. The Indian talent will be boxing with Japan’s Toshiya Yano who defeated Mongolia’s Altantulga Bayarsaikhan in a spectacular contest.

Light bantamweight (52kg):
Uzbekistan’s Asadkhudja Muydinkhodjayev is one of the most experienced junior athlete in the entire Asian continent who eliminated Japan’s Hiromi Gomi in the first preliminary round. The Uzbek boxer, who claimed titles in several international events, had to meet in the quarter-final with Iraq’s Children of Asia Games competitor Hussein Abdulhadi Al-Baidhani. The Uzbek southpaw attacked well in their contest and secured his place in the last four in Puerto Princesa. The Uzbek talent will be meeting with Thailand’s Nodpharat Thakhui who eliminated China’s Han Peng with superb performance and secured his country’s first medal in ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships.
Mongolia’s most experienced junior boxer Enkhtur Tegshjargal arrived to the venue of the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships as a secret favourite. He eliminated South Korea’s Yun Seon Woo in the first preliminary round and tried to use his strong counter-attacking style against India’s Bhavesh Kattimani in the quarter-final. The 170cm tall Mongolian, who had already 120 bouts during his career, worked well but finally his Indian opponent’s hand was raised who used an aggressive style today. The Indian boxer will be meeting with Kazakhstan’s Biybars Zheksen who eliminated Chinese Taipei’s Tsai Jui Chih in the last quarter-final of the weight class.

Lightweight (60kg):
India’s Akshay Kumar won four national events during his career and due his strong family connections to boxing, he was well prepared to the competition. The Indian southpaw met with Thailand’s Sumatas Ontong in the first preliminary round of the category. The Thai talent was not an easy opponent as opening for Akshay but the Indian talent was able to solve all tactical issues in Puerto Princesa.
Kazakhstan’s Bekzat Yerimbet was not an experienced junior boxer within their squad but he proved amazing style of boxing in the first round. The referee counted his South Korean opponent, Kang Hyeong Ho in the first minute and after the third knock down he confirmed the Kazakh boxer’s RSC success. Uzbekistan’s 16-year-old Sherzod Kodirbayev, who trains in Karakalpakstan, controlled his fight against Iraq’s tall Alhasan Al-Dhuwayhir in this weight class.

Light welterweight (63kg):
South Korea’s Lee Chae Hyun achieved silver medal in their Youth National Championships where he showed his potential against older rivals. The 16-year-old South Korean talent was eliminated Iran’s Ehsan Adai and tried to repeat his tough performance against Chinese Taipei’s Lai Yu Cheng. The Daegu-based Korean boxer did enough to win his contest by unanimous decision and he can prepares to his semi-final against Uzbekistan’s Nurislom Ismoilov who eliminated India’s Vijay Deep by split decision.
Japan’s Shoi Someya is their current Junior National Champion who joined to the national team only this year but he eliminated Kazakhstan’s Azamat Bektas in the first preliminary round yesterday. The 16-year-old Japanese boxer exceeded the expectations and tried to repeat that strong performance against Thailand’s Weerapon Jongjoho. The Thai talent, who has got strong family connections to boxing, found Someya’s weak points and advanced to the semi-final of the competition.

Welterweight (66kg):
Japan’s Sora Tanaka started the first round confidently against Chinese Taipei’s Hung Sheng Po in spite of the fact this ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships is his first ever international event. The aggressive Japanese boxer’s style was uncomfortable for Hung who tried to keep the distance against the attacking Tanaka. Chinese Taipei’s young talent was not able to survive the dangerous moments and the Uzbek referee confirmed Tanaka’s RSC success before the final bell.

Light middleweight (70kg):
Uzbekistan’s Khayotbek Bakhtiyorov replaced Komiljon Yusupov in the final minute but he did great performance against Chinese Taipei’s Huang Wei Cheng in the first preliminary round of the category. The Uzbek boxer, who trains in the city of Urgench, had a hard opponent, Kazakhstan’s super talented Yerassyl Zhakpekov. The Kazakh Junior National Champion, whose elder brother is member of their youth national team, started strongly their key contest and his efforts were enough to beat his Uzbek rival by unanimous decision and claimed a guaranteed medal for Kazakhstan.
Iraq’s Children of Asia Games silver medallist Sajjad Ali Saleh Saleem moved ahead in the first round against Mongolia’s Gantulga Batbayar and tried to control their quarter-final from the opening seconds. The Iraqi boxer controlled the bout until the end of the final bell and advanced to the semi-finals which means he is a guaranteed medallist in the event. The Iraqi boxer will now meet with India’s Aman Ajmer who eliminated Kyrgyzstan’s Baybek Anarbek Uulu in a hectic quarter-final.

Middleweight (75kg):
South Korea’s Kwak Min Hyuk is a very talented junior boxer who proved strong performance against China’s Wang Liang mainly in the second round. The South Korean boxer was so successful in the second round when his body punch shocked the Chinese talent in Puerto Princesa. The Korean boxer won their contest by unanimous decision and advanced to the semi-finals where his next opponent will be Chinese Taipei’s Huang Wei Hsiang who eliminated surprisingly Kyrgyzstan’s experienced Kerimbay Erkinov.
India’s defending Junior National Champion Vinit Dahiya is one of the youngest boxer of their delegation who used his longer reach to keep the distance against Jordan’s Rashed Al-Swaisat in their quarter-final contest. The final verdict was unanimous decision to the young Indian boxer who will be meeting with Kazakhstan’s Kuandyk Maksut in the semi-final of the event. The Kazakh boxer eliminated Uzbekistan’s main gold medal favourite Madiyar Rejepov who was unbeaten before their contest in 2017.

Light heavyweight (80kg):
Kazakhstan’s Heydar Aliyev Junior Cup winner Sagyndyk Togambay tried to dictate the tempo against Iran’s Armin Azari Praivatlou in the first round of their battle. The 16-year-old experienced Kazakh boxer, who trains in Astana, attacked well and his uppercuts worked well in the second round which was enough for him to beat his Iranian rival by RSC. Togambay advanced to the semi-final and he is already a guaranteed medallist in the competition.

Heavyweight (+80kg):
India’s Satender Singh won their Junior National Championships two weeks ago and after that event he could join to compete in his first ever international tournament. The Indian boxer eliminated Chinese Taipei’s Lin Sheng Hao in the first preliminary round and tried to do his best against South Korea’s Kim Hyun Woo. The South Korean boxer surprised Singh in the first round and almost knocked out his opponent. Singh survived those dangerous moments and he has done what a great comeback in the second round which meant he will be boxing with Kazakhstan’s favourite Arnur Akhmetzhanov in the semi-final.
Uzbekistan’s Junior National Champion Shokhrukh Almatov walked over to the semi-finals as his opponent, United Arab Emirates’ Saud Al-Barout was not able to fight against him. The 15-year-old Uzbek talent will be meeting in the semi-final with Kyrgyzstan’s Margilan International Junior Tournament winner Akhmed Usupov. The Kyrgyz talent did enough to beat Iran’s Ali Sepehr in the last bout of the second competition day.
