Jordan National Championships starts with its first competition day in Amman
The Jordan Boxing Association reformed with its election on May and after their participation in the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Tashkent and in the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku their new edition of the National Boxing Championships starts in their capital city in Amman.
The Jordan National Boxing Championships is holding for the elite, youth and junior boxers in Amman where the competition is running until next week. Amman hosted the 2013 edition of the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships which was a big step in the Western Asian country.
Jordan had record number of two quota places in boxing in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games which was a sensational effort from the country’s developing young athletes. Jordan took one quota place for the Hamburg 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships following Hussein Iashaish’s bronze medal in the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The number of the elite male boxers in the Jordan National Boxing Championships is 108 which is record in the history of their event. Boxers who were born in 1999 and in 2000 are eligible to compete in the youth part of the national event and after the registration process, 56 athletes will be fighting for the medals in that age group. Furthermore 90 boxers who were born in 2001 and in 2002 will be competing in the Junior National Championships in Amman.
