Jordan and Chinese Taipei earned historic medals in Yerevan

The winners on the sixth competition day are all medallists at the IBA Junior World Boxing Championships in Yerevan, Armenia. Jordan and Chinese Taipei had historic results in the long competition day earning medals for their promising nations.

Boxers who were born in 2007 and in 2008 are eligible to participate in the Junior World Boxing Championships. Afghanistan, Chinese Taipei, India, Iran, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Qatar, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan sent their boxers from the Asian continent.

Kazakhstan’s Sila Bibolsynkyzy, the silver medallist from the last ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships, was in a different level as her quarter-final opponent, Trinidad & Tobago’s John Reyah and she marched to the last four. The Kazakh boxer had an early stoppage and she will now meet for the finals India’s Payal who eliminated Ireland’s Crinnion Lauren Doherty today.

Chinese Taipei’s Shen Sin Ai is the reigning and historic ASBC Asian Junior Champion at the women’s light flyweight (48kg) who found the best rhythm immediately against Poland’s Nadia Formela. The 15-year-old talent overcame her European opponent and she had the speed advantage to earn her next medal in a major championship. Her teammate, Pan Guan Hao succeeded in the men’s part of the competition after beating Croatia’s Ivan Jukicic at the light heavyweight (80kg).

India’s Amisha Kerketta is a new addition in the junior national team but she had the energetic attacks against South Korea’s Kim Ji Ae from the opening exchanges. The Indian girl followed her coach, Mrs. Geeta Chanu Oinam’s instructions and after her great actions, she is now semi-finalist in Yerevan.

Kazakhstan’s Ayazhan Sydyk had impressive weeks in the end of the year, the junior girl eliminated Russia’s Vladislava Silina as well. Her teammates such as Gaukhar Zarden (54kg) and Tolganay Kassymkhan (60kg) both amazed with her skills today and marched to the semi-finals.

Uzbekistan’s outstanding Abdurakhmon Makhmudjonov missed the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships to prepare well to the Yerevan edition. The Uzbek shocked the reigning ASBC Asian Junior Champion Brijesh Tamta of India and he dominated this important final-level quarter-final at the men’s pinweight (46kg).

South Korea’s Lee Hyeon Min delivered one of the sensations in the sixth day of boxing in Yerevan where the male pinweight (46kg) boxer found the best weapon against Tajikistan’s Jakhongir Kamolov. The Tajik was the favourite of their quarter-final but Lee had the effective actions and nice technical skills to eliminate Kamolov today.

Uzbekistan had excellent junior talents at the male lightweight (60kg) and their Firuzjon Sadullayev proved his strong future potential once again. The 16-year-old Uzbek controlled the first round against Tajikistan’s Mukhammadsulton Sultonov and he had the advantage on the judges’ scorecards after two minutes. Sadullayev impressed in the second and third rounds as well therefore he advanced to the semi-finals earning a guaranteed medal. Jordan’s Akram Abdulla Zeadeh is not an experienced boxer in the international competitions yet but he made a historic result for his country in Yerevan today. The 16-year-old boxer had an unexpected success over Kazakhstan’s Alikhan Asker and the lightweight (60kg) talent became Jordan’s first ever medallist in the junior age group.
