Japan’s Yuga Fujiki won the battle of the unbeaten boxers and he is a finalist in Pueblo
The semi-finals were on the official program at the World Boxing’s U19 World Boxing Championships in Pueblo, United States on Day5 when Japan’s Yuga Fujiki defeated the Aussie No.1 in the battle of the unbeaten boxers.
The total number of the boxers is 165 from 25 nations in the United States where 20 champions will be crowned after the finals. India, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and Thailand are the participating Asian countries in Pueblo. Boxers who were born in 2006 and in 2007, are eligible to participate at the U19 World Boxing Championships in the United States.
India’s Junior World Champion and two-time Asian Champion Nisha is one of the start of the competition and as expected she won the battle against United States’ Laila Zakirova at the women’s 51kg weight class which means she can have an attempt to beat England’s multiple European Champion Alice Pumphrey.
India’s Supriya Devi Thokchom did not deliver her very best in her tight semi-final against Ukraine’s Bozhena Melnyk but her hand was raised after the last gong therefore she will now meet England’s tall Caitlyn Wise at the women’s 54kg weight class.
India’s next hope, another well-experienced international boxer, Parthavi Grewal was too strong for Australia’s Indianna Timms and she joined the title bout of the women’s 65kg division where her last opponent will be Aaliyah Hoppema of the Netherlands.
Japan’s East Asian Youth Games winner Fuma Kumamoto dominated all of her previous contests in Pueblo and he had a successful campaign against Wales’ Michael O’Sullivan as well therefore he will now meet United States’ Brandenburg Youth Cup winner Emmanuel Chance at the men’s 55kg weight class.
Japan’s Asian Junior Champion Yuga Fujiki is a fantastic boxer at the lightweight (60kg) and he had a great test in the day of the semi-finals. He met Australia’s No.1, the unbeaten Jacob Cassar in a highly anticipated bout which delivered a success of the Japanese boxer due to his outstanding tempo and rhythm. Fujiki will be boxing in the final with another Asian Junior Champion, Aphichit Chaemdi of Thailand who had three split decision triumphs in Pueblo.
Kazakhstan’s new youth boxer in the team, Assylkhan Kosherbay controlled the exchanges against Ukraine’s Maksym Nizhenskyi in the day of the semi-finals and he succeeded in Pueblo. The Kazakh was not enough fresh in the last round but he managed the pathway to the final of the 65kg weight class where he will face for the gold with Australia’s strong Cooper McConnell.
India’s ASBC medallist Rahul Kundu also defeated an Australian boxer, Linkyn MacMillan and he will meet United States’ Joseph Awinongya in the final of the 75kg. Kazakhstan’s Daniyal Raimbekov also controlled the first and second rounds against South Korea’s Shin Min Seung at the 85kg weight class semi-final. The finals will be held on November 1 and 2 after the rest day in Pueblo and the bouts starts at 1pm according to the competition schedule.
