Iran’s next national event, the Memorial Tournament for their former President Mr. Ebrahim Raisi will start on June 14
The Iranian Boxing Federation will arrange their next competition, the Memorial of their Martyred President Ayatollah Seyed Ebrahim Raisi and Martyrs of Government Tournament starting from June 14.
Mr. Seyed Ebrahim Raisi served Iran as the eighth President of the country from 2021 until his death in a helicopter crash on May 19, 2024. Following this tragedy, Mr. Mohammad Mokhber preceded him as the Acting President of Iran.
The competition period of the national tournament is June 14-20 and Iran’s best elite male boxers are all planning to participate in this new event which is the first edition. Their previous elite national competition was held in January which opened the year for them.
The national level competition will be held for the elite male boxers from the minimumweight (48kg) up to the super heavyweight (+92kg) in Tehran.
There will be a 1-star Referee & Judge Course during the event in Tehran to increase the knowledge and experience of their national level of R&Js.
The Memorial of their Martyred President Ayatollah Seyed Ebrahim Raisi and Martyrs of Government Tournament will be also a national selection competition for the upcoming ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships which is scheduled to be held after the Olympic Games in the second part of the year.
Iran competed in all of the important competitions in the previous months including the 1st and 2nd World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Events, the ASBC Asian Youth & U22 Boxing Championships, the Elorda Cup in Kazakhstan and the Duisenkul Shopokov Memorial Tournament in Kyrgyzstan. Iran earned a gold medal in the ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships in Astana last month, their first since the 2019 edition. Amir Esmaeili Vandaei is their new super heavyweight (+92kg) hero, the 18-year-old talent could be Iran’s next ace in the upcoming years.
