Iran’s Mohammad Saleh Mesbahi Rouzbahani plans to defend his Asian throne in Al Ain

Iran registered nine junior and ten schoolboy talents for the upcoming ASBC Asian Junior & Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Boxing Championships which will open with its first competition day in Al Ain on August 29.

The upcoming ASBC Asian Junior & Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Boxing Championships will be held in Al-Ain, United Arab Emirates between August 27 and September 10 which is the first top event after the Paris Olympics. Two age groups, two genders and Asia’s best 13, 14, 15 and 16-year-old talents will be competing for the 56 available gold medals in Al Ain.

Iran earned a gold medal in the 2023 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships in Astana which was a surprise in the competition and the country’s new management plans to repeat that performance in Al Ain as well.

Two former top Iranian boxers such as Mr. Esfandiyar Mohammadi and Mr. Akbar Hadi Ahadi will lead their next generation of boxers in the upcoming championships. Mohammadi claimed a gold medal at the 1997 Asian Boxing Championships in Malaysia where Ahadi took a silver.

Mohammad Saleh Mesbahi Rouzbahani impressed the experts with his impressive technical skills in the 2023 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships where he achieved a title in Astana. The 16-year-old boxer moved up to the light middleweight (70kg) and he plans to defend his Asian throne in Al Ain.

Ashkan Hashemi bagged a bronze medal at the lightweight (60kg) in the last edition of the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships one year ago. He turned to 16 this June and their next top junior talent changed into the light welterweight (63kg) in the recent weeks.

Mahdi Rouzbahani (46kg), Sahand Najafi (48kg), Mohammad Safar Beiranvand (60kg), Amirmohammad Rostampour (66kg) and Mahan Sajedi Jablou (75kg) are their further top junior national team members.

Pouyan Nouroozi (43kg) and Zobeir Eisazehi (46kg) will lead Team Iran in the schoolboys part of the championships but they have experienced 14-year-old boxers also in the heavier weight classes. Mehrshad Sherafatmand Deyman (70kg) and Mohammad Akbar Soltani Tasouj (+70kg) have also medal potentials in Al Ain.

More than 25 countries have registered to the ASBC Asian Junior & Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Boxing Championships and the number of the boxers exceeded 450.
