Iran, India conduct joint training camp in Tehran for ASBC elite tilt

Headed by its president Mr. Hossein Souri, the Iranian Boxing Federation recently organized a 10-day joint training camp with the Boxing Federation of India held in Tehran as they gear up for the ASBC Asian Elite Championships 2022.

Mr. Souri, who is also a member of the ASBC Board of Directors, welcomed 13 elite male boxers from India while the host federation’s international director Ms. Azadeh Moghaddas took care of all the necessary procedures and technical arrangements.

Among the Indian representatives were Tokyo Olympian Satish Kumar, fellow veterans Govind Kumar Sahani, Deepak, Kavinder Singh Bisht and Mohammed Etash Khan accompanied by coaches Khimanand Belwal, Laishram Devendro Singh and Ramanand.

On the other hand, 16 Iranian male fighters joined the physical training and sparring sessions which started from August 28 and ran until September 6.

Iranian head coach Alireza Esteki, a former Asian silver medalist, selected the participants including one of its top pugs in Seyed Shahin Mousavi who claimed two bronze medals on the Asian elite level and qualified for Tokyo Olympics last year.

Iran is eager to snag a gold medal in this year’s continental joust after finishing with two silvers and two bronzes  while India is raring to improve its 2-5-8 gold-silver-bronze haul.

The ASBC Asian Elite Championships 2022 will take place on October 30 to November 13 in Amman, Jordan.
