“I received the invitation from ASBC President Mr. Serik Konakbayev and I am proud of the fact I could lead the ASBC Refereeing & Judging Commission Meeting third time. The members of the Commission are my friends, they are very active and experienced officials who are working hard to reach our upcoming goals. As Referees & Judges they worked in several big events including in the Olympic Games.
The friendly environment of this Commission Meeting supported us to discuss the main topics, the evaluation system, the education system, the new AIBA rules, and how can we reach our objectives in the new Olympic cycle.
This is a fantastic ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championship in Tashkent where all level of organizations high while the boxers are well prepared to this prestigious and important event. Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are the strongest countries in Asia and also they have got key role in the World. Both countries have got a lot of competitions every year, their boxers are well prepared and strong.
Syria proved great performance in the first four competition days in the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships and won two medals. Currently I work in the Saudi Arabian Boxing Federation and we were able to launch our first ever development program with identified objectives.
In Saudi Arabia we are focusing to the schoolboys and junior level which is the basic part of our sport. We have got of course elite boxers as well but we believe we will be able to get better results with our current schoolboys and juniors in the future.
We have got a new and famous Cuban coach to develop our schoolboys and junior talents, he is Esquirol Maikro Romero who claimed gold medal at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games as a boxer. Saudi Arabia will be sending 4-6 boxers to the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships to the Philippines which will be our first ever participation in this level,”
said Mr. Mohamed Kamel Shbib after the ASBC R&J Commission Meeting in the International Hotel in Tashkent.
