Hoang Ngoc Phuong Trinh is the first historical schoolgirl winner at the Vietnam Youth & Junior & Schoolboys National Championships
The schoolgirls, schoolboys and junior finals were held in the Vietnam Youth & Junior & Schoolboys National Boxing Championships where several young future hopes claimed their gold medals. The first historical schoolgirl title was won by Hoang Ngoc Phuong Trinh and many of their new female hopes shined in the finals.
The Vietnam Youth & Junior & Schoolboys National Boxing Championships was stopped in Quang Ngai Province in the recent days due to Typhoon Molave which affected the area badly. The tropical storm has resulted in heavy torrential rains, widespread flooding, landslides, and loss of life in the Central Region of Vietnam. Following the tropical storm, Vietnam’s busiest national event was continued in the Quang Ngai Province.
Altogether impressive number of 360 bouts have done in the Vietnam Youth & Junior National Boxing Championships in Quang Ngai province where schoolboys and schoolgirls have been added to the official program at the very first time. Vietnam’s best referees and judges are all working in the national event to arrange fair play for all of the participants.
The President of the Vietnam Boxing Federation Mr. Tran Minh Tien followed all of the actions in the Youth & Junior & Schoolboys National Boxing Championships since the opening ceremony and the first bouts. The venue of the national event is the Indoor Sport Stadium in the Nguyen Tu Tan street where 458 boxers are in actions.
The first historical schoolgirl gold medal was achieved by Hoang Ngoc Phuong Trinh at the 42kg weight class which she won over Ho Chi Minh City’s Nguyen Thi Kim Tuyen. Another top final battle was held between Hoang Ngoc Phuong Uyen and Trinh Khanh Linh at the 44kg. Both boxers invested big efforts to their final but in the third round Hoang decided their contest by her strength.
The first close schoolgirl final was held between Do Minh Chau and Nguyen Thi Thu Ha at the 46kg weight category. The latter was the favourite of their final but Do impressed especially in the third round and won the title in the Quang Ngai Province. Dinh Thi Khanh Ly had to do also her very best to beat Ly Thi Mai in the fourth schoolgirl final of the national event which was also split decision triumph.
Nguyen Thi Mai began the first round of the 50kg schoolgirl final against Nguyen Hoang Phuong Anh and the referee stopped their contest in the second due to her dominancy. Song Thi Kim Ngan was brave in her attacks in the final of the 52kg weight category and the 14-year-old boxer defeated Nguyen Ngoc Anh in another hectic contest. Tran Thi To Nhu also had a tough final fight but she managed to beat Tran Thanh Tuyen in the national event.
The first female junior final was won by To Hong Minh who dominated all of the rounds against Tran Thi Lan Anh at the 42kg weight class. A local favourite Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung accomplished her goals and won the title at the junior 44kg category beating Hanoi’s Nguyen Thi Ngoc. Pham Thi Quynh Anh was slightly better than Hanoi’s Ngo Ngoc Linh Chi at the 48kg while Le Hai Au (50kg) and Tran Thi My Tam (52kg) impressed in the same women’s junior level.
