Great session for Thailand in Nis

Thailand had fantastic sessions at the third competition day at the IBA Women’s Elite World Boxing Championships in Nis, Serbia.
Nis is the third largest city in Serbia with the population of 260,000 with its suburbs and the administrative center of the Nisava District. Nis is a historic city, built by the time of the Roman Empire and it has a fortress, memorial park, chapels, monuments and other important sightseeing.
The women’s boxers are able to participate in all of the twelve official weight categories from the minimumweight (48kg) up to the heavyweight (+81kg) in Nis.
Thailand’s ASBC Asian Champion Chuthamat Raksat was not expected a hard battle against Mexico’s Fatima Patricia Herrera but from the second round she had to turn into a higher rhythm to win their light flyweight (50kg) meeting.
China’s Hu Meiyi robbed into the world of boxing at the age of 17 in 2019 and she had an outstanding performance against Ireland’s Daina Moorehouse therefore she is now a quarter-finalist at the light flyweight (50kg).
Kazakhstan’s Alua Balkybekova bowed out another experienced boxer at the light flyweight (50kg), Morocco’s Yasmine Mouttaki while Uzbekistan’s ASBC Asian U22 Champion Sabina Bobokulova outpointed Colombia’s newcomer Yerlin Quinonez in another important Round of 16 battle.
Thailand’s next ASBC Asian Champion, the 21-year-old Natnicha Chongprongklang used her similar strategy as in her first appearance in Nis but she had to keep the focus until the last gong to beat Puerto Rico’s Angelyris Lopez at the bantamweight (54kg).
Kazakhstan’s defending ASBC Asian Elite Champion at the lightweight (60kg), Viktoriya Grafeyeva was untouchable for Greece’s Sofia Legaki in their meeting and her counter-punches decided the preliminary bout.
Thailand’s Thananya Somnuek has seven years of international experience in the national team but she had to meet Serbia’s European Champion, the ex-Russian Kristina Kuluhova in a final-level contest in Nis. The Thai light welterweight (63kg) boxer progressed in terms of strength and physical skills which were enough to beat one of the local stars.
Vietnam’s 32-year-old experienced Ha Thi Linh gave in everything against Venezuela’s Omailyn Alcala and she secured her spot in the quarter-finals. Kazakhstan’s ASBC Asian Champion of this weight class, Aida Abikeyeva bowed out a dangerous opponent, China’s Zhao Shuoyu in Nis.
China’s Wang Xiaomeng surprised Kazakhstan’s Gulsaya Yerzhan with her effective punches from long-range and she won their meeting unanimously before Uzbekistan’s Sokhiba Ruzmetova managed her path also to the last eight at the light heavyweight (81kg).
