Ganiyeva and Toirova won their second CIS Games after the 2021 edition
The women’s finals took place in the sixth competition day at the Commonwealth of Independent States Games in Orsha, Belarus. The Uzbek female boxers claimed six gold medals in the day of the finals and their team was the best in these twelve contests. Gulsevar Ganiyeva and Oysha Toirova won their second CIS Games after the first 2021 edition.
The core nations are Armenia, Azerbaijan, host Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The guest nations of the CIS Games are Bahrain, Cuba, Egypt, Iran, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mongolia, Oman, Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, Venezuela and Vietnam.
Altogether 20 sports are in the official program of the Games including boxing where youth pugilists from the 2005 and 2006 age groups are eligible to compete. Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are the participating countries in the boxing event.
Uzbekistan’s No.1, Gulsevar Ganiyeva is the defending Youth World Champion who won an important competition just before the start of the CIS Youth Games. The Uzbek girl dominated the minimumweight (48kg) in the city of Orsha and she was too strong for Russia’s Daria Zrianina in their final.
Another Uzbek talent, Robiyakhon Bakhtiyorova earned a silver medal at the 2021 CIS Junior Games which she changed into gold in this new youth competition. The experienced Uzbek light flyweight (50kg) boxer was smarter than Russia’s Aziza Otorova and she used the best strategy to take the title.
ASBC Asian Junior Champion Uzukjamol Yunusova joined the youth age group this January but she impressed in all of her annual events. The 17-year-old bantamweight (54kg) boxer controlled the exchanges against Azerbaijan’s Aynur Mikayilova and she won Uzbekistan’s third female title in Orsha.
Uzbekistan’s CIS Junior Games winner Sitora Bakhodirova eliminated her main rival before the final and she had the dominance at the light welterweight (63kg) final. The 18-year-old Uzbek did not underestimate Belarus’ Hanna Serada and in the third round her strength resulted a stoppage in the bout.
The CIS Junior Games winner and the ASBC Asian Junior Champion Oysha Toirova is on the strong pathway of her older teammate, Aziza Zokirova. She dominated all of her events at the light middleweight (70kg) and she was unstoppable for Russia’s Lala Abbasova as well in this exciting final bout.
Oltinoy Sotimboyeva, the silver medallist from the 2021 edition and the runner-up from the 2022 Youth World Boxing Championships, proved her fantastic development at the light heavyweight (81kg). The 18-year-old boxer kept her focus until the last gong and she won the final against Russia’s Anastasia Panina.
