The 18-year-old boxer overcame Mongolia’s Saruul Batsaikhan in the attacks and she had a focused performance against a good opponent. Sharma delivered another world-class performance today and she will meet Uzbekistan’s Gulsevar Ganiyeva who bowed out Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung. The Uzbek defeated Sharma in the final of the last Youth World Boxing Championships and the two stars will meet once again in Astana.

The Indian southpaw had the full pressure on the Uzbek boxer in all of the three rounds and she eliminated a technician opponent today. Chinese Taipei’s Chiu Ching Yu competed in all of their national events successfully in the previous five years but Kazakhstan’s Yelyanur Turganova was better in the second and third rounds.
