Fujairah’s runner-up Abubakr Murodov wins in the Tajikistan Junior National Championships but the main surprise was caused by Doston Dodov

The Tajikistan Junior National Championships was held in the capital city of the country in Dushanbe which was a four-day long competition. Tajikistan’s future hope ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships silver medallist Abubakr Murodov won his new weight class but defending ASBC Asian Junior Champion Abdurakhim Yokubov had a surprise loss to Doston Dodov at the featherweight (57kg).

Boxers who were born in 2003 and in 2004 were eligible to attend in the Tajikistan Junior National Championships. Tajikistan’s boxing life turned into a new era when Bakhodur Usmonov achieved the title in the Bangkok 2019 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships. Tajikistan impressed also in the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships on October where Abdurakhim Yokubov achieved gold medal.

The female boxers could attend in five weight classes in the Tajikistan Junior National Championships. Khatlon’s Mavluda Safarova is a young hope in Tajikistan who claimed her first national title after beating Tojiddin Gudrukhsori in the final of the light flyweight (48kg). Saodat Nazarova is a talented girl from the Khatlon region who defeated Bibisoro Jumayeva in the final of the light bantamweight (52kg).  

Khatlon’s Bibinashastamo Kholova is the best female junior boxer in Tajikistan who attended in the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships. The 15-year-old girl stopped Dushanbe’s Nigora Odimova in the final of the bantamweight (54kg). Fayzullo Sharoati defeated two opponents from Dushanbe, Nigora Aripova and Amina Isabayeva and crowned at the lightweight (60kg). Sayokhat Nazarova claimed the fifth gold medal of the women’s part of the Tajikistan Junior National Championships.

The first male gold medal was achieved by Khatlon’s Dorobsho Rajabov who defeated all of his four opponents including his main rival Abubakr Bobojonov in the final. Khudjand’s Suleimenov Junior Tournament bronze medallist Firdavs Rakhimov competed at the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships which experiences paid off in the final of the light flyweight (48kg) when he met with Akbarali Abdurakhmonzoda for the title.

Galib Dzhafarov Prizes Junior Tournament silver medallist Iskandarbek Rustamov attended in the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships where he had a narrow loss to India’s eventual winner Bishwamitra Chongtham. The 16-year-old Tajik boxer dominated all of his fights in the national event and defeated Khatlon’s Makhmudjon Boboyev in the final of the flyweight (50kg).

Abubakr Murodov is Tajikistan’s top talent in the age group who turned to 15 only a few weeks ago but he amazed in Fujairah where he claimed silver medal in the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships. Murodov moved up to the light bantamweight (52kg) where he had a tough final against another boxer who competed in the Asian continental event. Bakhovaddin Soliyev of Sughd region was a hard opponent but Murodov succeeded in the final of the Junior National Championships.

Following Orif Orifzoda’s gold medal at the bantamweight (54kg), the main surprise of the Tajikistan Junior National Championships was made at the featherweight (57kg). Abdurakhim Yokubov won the gold medal at the bantamweight (54kg) in the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships which was his career highlight but he suffered an unexpected loss in the national final against Doston Dodov.

Kirom Mashrabov had international experiences from Central Asian events which supported his success over Shokhzod Soliboyev at the lightweight (60kg). Bakhtovar Daliev lost his first fight in the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships but his technical skills are strong enough which he showed in the final of the light welterweight (63kg) against Dushanbe’s Fayzali Gulomov.

Dushanbe’s welterweight (66kg) talent Solim Mamadnazarov had a tough final against Komron Mashrabov but he succeeded over his rival in the final. Timur Teshakhunov was quarter-finalist in the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships and became too strong for Khatlon’s Safarbek Mirzoyev at the light middleweight (70kg).

Dushanbe’s duo as Durandesh Zubaydov (75kg) and Nurmukhammad Ashurov (80kg) dominated their weight classes in the Junior National Championships. The super heavyweight (+80kg) title was achieved by Abubakr Yunusov who had also international experiences from Kazakhstan events and from the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships. Sughd region’s Yunusov had a tough final against Samandar Akhmedov but his hand was raised after his split decision’s success.
