Four defending Asian Youth Champions won their weight categories in Ferghana

The city of Ferghana hosted an international women’s youth competition where four of the defending ASBC Asian Youth Champions earned their gold medals in Uzbekistan.

The Ferghana International Women’s Youth Tournament was held in the Samo Sports Complex dedicated for the “Teacher and Coach Day” which is celebrated in Uzbekistan.

The international competition was a preparation event for the upcoming Youth World Boxing Championships which will be held in Budva, Montenegro from October 23.

Boxers who were born in 2006 and in 2007 were eligible to participate in the Ferghana International Women’s Youth Tournament. All of the 12 official women’s weight classes were in action in the event from the minimumweight (48kg) up to the heavyweight (+81kg).

Uzbekistan’s Jasmin Tokhirova is the defending ASBC Asian Youth Champion at the women’s minimumweight (48kg) and she continued her winning path against in Ferghana as well where she defeated Kazakhstan’s Anel Abdrasulova in the final.

Uzbekistan’s next 18-year-old star, Zilolakhon Yusufova, the 2023 ASBC Asian Youth Champion, is Ferghana’s pride who had a tough battle against her city mate, Ismigul Komilova in the final of the light flyweight (50kg).

Bukhara’s Feruza Sharipova and Navoy’s Zukhro Rustamova both won their final contests by split decisions but their triumphs will guarantee their participation in Budva. Kazakhstan’s Ayazhan Yermek moved up to the lightweight (60kg) but the ASBC Asian Youth Champion was slightly better in the final than Farangiz Olimjonova of Ferghana.

Experienced international boxers such as Aruzhan Zhangabayeva (63kg) and Raykhona Kurbonboyeva (66kg) won the next two weight categories. Oysha Toirova is one of the diamonds in Uzbekistan’s boxing life and the three-time Asian Champion talent outpointed Kazakhstan’s Mariya Sidorenko in the light middleweight (70kg) final.

Shugyla Nalibay, the two-time ASBC Asian Youth Champion, competed at the light heavyweight (81kg) in the historic city of Ferghana but she will participate at the middleweight (75kg) in the upcoming Youth World Boxing Championships. Nalibay had to meet in the final another ASBC Asian Youth Champion Kazakh, Aruzhan Zeinullayeva but she managed to win that by 3:2 split decision.

Uzbekistan’s Sobirakhon Shakhobiddinova defeated Kazakhstan’s Panar Seitkhankyzy in the final of the recent ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships in Astana this May. The 17-year-old Uzbek repeated that performance and defeated the Kazakh girls by 4:1 split decision in the last final of the competition.
