Four boxers defended their titles in the Syrian Women’s National Championships

The Syrian Women’s National Championships was held for their elite boxers in the city of Hama. All of the ten official female weight classes were scheduled by the Syrian Arab Boxing Association which shows their strong development in female boxing. Altogether four boxers defended their thrones in Hama following their performance in 2018.
Syria’s woman boxing life turned into a new era in the recent years when the Syrian Arab Boxing Association decided to develop the female part of the sport. The Hijab was officially approved by the AIBA Executive Committee in their meeting in Istanbul on February which will be tightened the world in women’s boxing.
Altogether 78 boxers from eight cities and the Police Club attended in the Syrian Women’s National Championships in Hama which is record in comparison to the recent editions. The first gold medal of the Syrian Women’s National Championships was achieved by Rose Al-Yousef who represented Hama in the event and defeated Damascus’ Rouqia Khalouf in the final of the light flyweight (48kg).
Damascus’ Mariam Khalouf won the title of the flyweight (51kg) in the 2018 edition and she was able to repeat that performance after beating Haya Nayouf of the Police Boxing Club in the final. Hama city’s second gold medal was achieved by Sara Al-Ahmad who is newcomer in the sport but she was able to beat all of her opponents including Nadia Hamade in the final of the bantamweight (54kg).
Latakia’s first gold medal in the Syrian Women’s National Championships was taken by Ella Mayhoub at the featherweight (57kg) in Hama. Malak Tamer was gold medallist at the featherweight (57kg) in 2018, who moved up to the lightweight (60kg) and attended in her new category in Hama. Tamer continued Latakia’s winning path in the Syrian Women’s National Championships and defended her throne against Merna Jabour.
Police Boxing Club’s Qoufran Rohabany was titleholder at the welterweight (69kg) and she attended in the same category in 2019 as well. Rohabany did not give any chance to Hama’s Zena Mariam in the final achieving her second national title. Najwa Souliman defeated all of her rivals at the heavyweight (+81kg) in the last edition of the Syrian Women’s National Championships one year ago and she also repeated that result in Hama where she was too strong for Douaa Abed Al-Hadi in the final.
