Five of the Asians claimed gold medals in Nis including the three-time champion Nazym Kyzaibay

Five of the Asians earned gold medals at the IBA Women’s Elite World Boxing Championships in Nis, Serbia which event finished with its final competition day.
Kazakhstan, DPR Korea and PR of China achieved the gold medals among the Asian powers in the city of Nis. The women’s boxers were able to participate in all of the twelve official weight categories from the minimumweight (48kg) up to the heavyweight (+81kg) in Nis.
Kazakhstan’s Nazym Kyzaibay claimed her World titles still back in 2014 and in 2016 and after break, she went down to the minimumweight (48kg) for this event. The 31-year-old boxer looked fresh despite her hard semi-final bout but she could control the final against Russia’s Yulia Chumgalakova which guaranteed Kyzaibay’s third World title after nine years of hiatus.
Kazakhstan’s Alua Balkybekova also eliminated a DPR Korean boxer, An Kum Byol as Kyzaibay, and she faced with a promising Chinese, Hu Meiyi at the light flyweight (50kg). The 29-year-old Kazakh overcame her Chinese opponent in most of the attacks and Balkybekova won her first ever gold medal in the World Championships.
DPR Korea’s, Pang Chol Mi bagged a world title in 2018 and she proved her impressive technical skills in the entire championships once again. She met for the gold Turkey’s Busenaz Cakiroglu and both had the same style of boxing, therefore their final delivered a real chess game in Nis. Pang was patient, she waited for the best counter-attacking moments and the DPR Korean bagged her second World title after seven years.
Two of the Asians advanced to the finals of the light welterweight (63kg), Kazakhstan’s Aida Abikeyeva and Thailand’s Thananya Somnuek. The reigning ASBC Asian Elite Champion Kazakh worked hard in the recent ten years to accomplish her goal, to win the World title. She boxed brilliantly and her smart style of boxing guaranteed Kazakhstan’s third gold medal in the championships.
China had strong results in the competition, many of their youngsters and newcomers proved their very best in Nis. Following Hu Meiyi’s silver medal, their new heavyweight (+81kg) sensation, Zhan Yilian bagged the last gold medal of the entire event. She defeated such good boxers as Russia’s strong Maria Kuchmanova, Turkey’s 38-year-old Elif Guneri, and finally Kazakhstan’s ASBC Asian Champion Yeldana Talipova during her road to the gold medal.
ASBC Asian Champions as Thailand’s Punrawee Ruenros (57kg), Kazakhstan’s Viktoriya Grafeyeva (60kg) and Uzbekistan’s Navbakhor Khamidova (66kg) were near to the titles in their weight classes but all achieved silver medals in the city of Nis.
