Fantastic women’s quarter-finals at the Bekzat Sattarkhanov Youth Memorial Tournament

The women’s quarter-finals had amazing and world-class contests at the 23rd Bekzat Sattarkhanov Memorial Tournament in the city of Turkistan where the Kazakhs, the Uzbeks the Chinese and the Mongolian boxers delivered several nice victories.

Turkistan is located in the southern part of Kazakhstan and the historic city is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. The boxers who were born in 2007 and in 2008 are eligible to participate in the Bekzat Sattarkhanov Youth Memorial Tournament this year.

The competition is dedicated to Mr. Bekzat Sattarkhanov who was gold medallist in the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games but he died in a car crash a few months later of his glory before his 20th birthday.

Mr. Bekzat Sattarkhanov delivered one of the best performances in that Olympics 25 years ago and he defeated all of the stars in Sydney. The first edition of the Bekzat Sattarkhanov Youth Memorial Tournament was introduced short after his death.

Kazakhstan’s Sila Bybolsynkyzy has strong pedigree from the previous international events and she delighted the crowd in Turkistan with her excellent technical skills. She eliminated Almaty region’s Gulzat Akbarova but Uzbekistan’s Sevinch Muydinjonova also won her contest at the light flyweight (50kg).

Mongolia’s No.1 in the youth age group, the ASBC medallist Lkham Tsendbaatar outpointed Kazakhstan’s Madira Zhumakhan in the quarter-final of the light flyweight (50kg) and she managed her pathway to the medal phase in Turkistan.

Kazakhstan’s Aiym Tankibayeva won several major championships in the junior age group and she joined the youth events this January. The 16-year-old boxer was slightly better than Uzbekistan’s Mukhtasar Aliyeva and she is also a semi-finalist at the light flyweight (50kg).

Kazakhstan’s ASBC Asian Youth Champion Ayazhan Sydyk is one of the top names in the entire Sattarkhanov Youth Memorial Tournament but she suffered an unexpected loss at the women’s featherweight (57kg). China’s Xinjiang-based Safiya Samat has Kazakh roots and she spends her first year in the youth age group but she had the technician performance to beat the strong Sydyk.

China’s next Xinjiang-based boxer, Adite and Uzbekistan’s experienced Asselya Tulegenova both won their meetings by RSC in the first round in Turkistan. The Junior World Champion Aisulu Mukhit dominated her welterweight (66kg) quarter-final over China’s Gulzira Ahat and she won that bout by RSC.
