The Indian received the right instructions in the first break and due to her second and third rounds, she was able to turn back their women’s light flyweight (50kg) bout.
Kazakhstan’s Aibek Oralbay, the Asian Champion at the heavyweight (92kg), did not underestimate his UK-based Nigerian opponent, Adam Olaore and following his heavy shots, the referee had to count the African in the first round. The 24-year-old Kazakh continued his strong performance in the second and third rounds as well and he managed his pathway to the quarter-finals in Paris.
Kazakhstan’s next star in action, the light middleweight (71kg) World Champion Aslanbek Shymbergenov controlled the first round against Jordan’s Zeyad Eshaish but his opponent was better minutes by minutes in their meeting. The Kazakh landed the stronger punches but Eshaish’s stamina was enough to make a big U-turn in their contest to win this battle surprisingly by 3:2 split decision.
Italy’s Aziz Abbes Mouhiidine was silver medallist in the last World Championships and he won the European Games as well. The Italian was named as one of the gold medal contenders at the men’s heavyweight (92kg) but Uzbekistan’s Lazizbek Mullojonov used the best tactics against him and he eliminated Mouhiidine with top boxing.
Kazakhstan’s former two-time World Champion Nazym Kyzaibay had some difficulties in the first round against Italy’s promising Giordana Sorrentino at the women’s light flyweight (50kg). The Kazakh switched into a higher tempo in the beginning of the second round and her speed decided their Round of 32 contest in Paris.
