Eleven winners at the Indian Men’s School U19 National Games

Following the female finals, the male title contests took place at the Indian School U19 National Games in the city of Bhopal.

The Indians amazed in the recent main international youth competitions and championships, several times their squad topped the team standings. Their youth talents are among the bests in the entire world and the country invested plenty of resources to develop them.

Boxers who were born in 2004, in 2005, and in 2006, were eligible to participate in the Indian Men’s School U19 National Games. The total number of male boxers were 261 in the National Games where eleven winners earned their titles. Twenty-nine teams sent their boxers to Bhopal including the best regions such as Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and others.

The pinweight (46kg) was a strong category with the participation of 22 talents and among them Vinit Singh could celebrate his title in Bhopal. Rahul Kumar had a hard job in the semi-finals of the next weight class but he managed to beat Tadang Tadar and continued his winning path against Shourya Kumar Patwa in the final.

Ankush Kumar also had a very difficult and narrow semi-final but he survived that bout and he won the flyweight in Bhopal. Punjab’s Shivam Sharma had to win five tough contests to earn the title of the featherweight in the National Games.

Haryana’s strong lightweight (60kg) hope, Pankaj Kumar also succeeded five-times in the national event and he had the physical condition and motivation to beat Jatin Sharma of Punjab in the final.

Sagar Jakhar started his way to the final glory in the Round of 32 but after five triumphs, the CBSE boxer bagged a national title at the light welterweight. His teammate, an ASBC medallist Ankush Sorout had the same strong performance at the welterweight and dominated his final against Deepak Sharma.

Maharashtra’s Kunal Kiran Ghorpade had five exceptional wins at the middleweight (75kg) and Ayush Yadav was also not able to stop him. Krish, Prashant Khatana and Rishabh Kumar Pandey won the remaining gold medals in the School National Games.
