Dzhambul region’s youth talents shined in the semi-finals of the Kazakhstan Women’s Youth & Junior National Championships

The semi-finals were held in the new edition of the Kazakhstan Women’s Youth & Junior National Championships in the city of Almaty. Dzhambul region’s strong youth duo as Anzhelika Tsoy and Nazerke Serik are finalists in the youth competition where Gulnaz Buribayeva caused a big surprise.

The Kazakhstan Boxing Federation was not able to host the 2020 edition of the Women’s Youth & Junior National Championships therefore the event is a great comeback for their young talents. The winners of the semi-finals could be the champions of Kazakhstan in the upcoming last competition day.

Boxers who were born in 2003 and in 2004 are eligible to attend in the Kazakhstan Women’s Youth National Championships. The younger boxers from the 2005 and 2006 age groups can box at the Kazakhstan Women’s Junior National Championships in Almaty which holds parallel and together with the youth hopes.

The youth girls can compete in 11 categories from the pinweight (46kg) up to the heavyweight (+81kg) in Almaty. The younger junior talents can attend for the medals in 14 divisions from the pre-pinweight (44kg) up to the heavyweight (+80kg) in the Kazakhstan Women’s Youth & Junior National Championships.

The youth event is a preparation and selection before the main international goals of the year including the upcoming AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships which is scheduled to be held in Kielce, Poland on April 10-24. The junior girls have been preparing also to their upcoming international events.

Delfina Abilkhan is the first finalist among the junior boxers

Turkestan region’s Delfina Abilkhan became the first finalist of the junior part of the national event following she defeated Diana Yeleusiz of Almaty region at the 44kg weight category. Abilkhan will be boxing with Ayazhan Zhakipova of Dzhambul region for the gold medal of the national event. Almaty’s Manshuk Torganbay proved impressive performance during her road to the finals and she needed also less than one round to beat Ayaulym Aituova. She will be facing for the gold medal with Almaty region’s Yelyanur Turganova who also won her semi-final by RSC.

Aruzhan Yermek won the most difficult semi-final of the juniors

Dzhambul region’s Aruzhan Yermek had several difficulties in the first round of the semi-finals against Dariya Kovaleva of Karagandy region but she was enough strong to turn back their contest at the light flyweight (48kg). Yermek will be meeting for the gold medal with Anita Adisheva of Karagandy region who eliminated Kuralay Kudiretbay of Nur-Sultan. Dzhambul region’s next finalist will be Karina Tokubay who stopped Akmeir Zhanybekova and will have only one last step for the title against Tomiris Myrzakul at the flyweight (50kg).

Buribayeva caused a big surprise at the youth light flyweight (48kg)

Karagandy region’s Gulnaz Buribayeva delivered one of the biggest sensations of the semi-finals following she was able to beat Kyzyl-Orda region’s favourite Akbota Bolat in the semi-finals of the light flyweight (48kg) in Almaty. Her stamina was enough to beat her rival and will be meeting for the gold medal with Symbat Adilova. Pavlodar region’s Khava Bolkoyeva was the favourite of the youth flyweight (51kg) but she was bowed out by Azhar Tashkenbay of Turkestan region in the semi-finals.

Tsoy and Serik are finalists in the youth competition

Dzhambul region’s Anzhelika Tsoy impressed in the key semi-finals against Nur-Sultan’s pride Ulbolsyn Aman and advanced to the final of the youth bantamweight (54kg) where the 17-year-old talent will be facing with Aishagul Yeleubayeva of East Kazakhstan region. Dzhambul region’s next finalist will be Nazerke Serik who won the gold medal at the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships. She defeated Tatyana Zakrevskaya in a quick semi-final at the featherweight (57kg) and will now meet for the gold medal with Guldana Ibrakhimgabidulla of Nur-Sultan.

Ayupova, Diday and Zharaskyzy delivered strong performances in the semi-finals

Pavlodar region’s 17-year-old Milana Ayupova dominated the first round against Shymkent’s Fariza Sailau and stopped her opponent in the second. Ayupova is the favourite of the final of the light welterweight (64kg) against Anar Tursynbek of Almaty region. ASBC Asian Women’s Junior Champion Dana Diday and Zhibek Zharaskyzy are the finalists of the middleweight (75kg) which could be the best fights of the last competition day.
