China Dragons exceeded the expectations and defeated Ukraine Otamans in the Sanya Sport Center Stadium
Ukraine Otamans the current leader of the Group A arrived to China with strong line-ups as all of their boxers fought well in the recent one year in various competitions. In spite of the previous chances China Dragons proved their best ever performance in the history of the World Series of Boxing and defeated their star rivals 4-1 in the Sanya Sport Center Stadium in the city of Sanya.
The China Dragons was near to beat Türkiye Conquerors in their away contest in the Bagcilar Sport Complex in Istanbul on Week 1 but in their repeat match the home squad did memorable performance two weeks ago. China Dragons was able to win their first match in Season VI after beating Türkiye Conquerors 3-2 in the front of the local crowd and following that success the franchise was able to continue the winning path against the leader of Group A which franchise defeated Cuba Domadores in their last appearance.
China Dragons’ He Junjun is a massive boxer who is using his speed to beat his opponents and his rhythm was different this afternoon as well. The 22-year-old Chinese boxer won his fifth WSB contest during his career, this time Ukraine Otamans’ Nazar Kurotchyn was his victim in the Sanya Sport Center Stadium.
China Dragons’ 24-year-old Xu Boxiang was awarded the WSB Boxer of Week 1 trophy following his great performance in his away contest in Turkey. The Bantamweight class (56 kg) boxer returned to the franchise and dominated all of the rounds especially the fourth against Oleh Dovhun who had a lot of experiences from AOB tournaments.
China Dragons’ third success was delivered by Meng Caicheng against Ukraine Otamans’ Denys Pesotskyy which was the key bout of the entire match. Meng was near to beat a strong Turkish opponent on Week 1 but this time his motivation was enough to keep the advantage in the fifth round when Pesotskyy was more than a dangerous opponent. Meng’s narrow triumph meant China Dragons won its second WSB match in Season VI against such a big rival as the leader of Group A.
Xinjiang-based 22-year-old Hanati Ayiben was newcomer in the China Dragons and after three rounds it felt he never boxed five frames in his boxing career but his support from the crowd was enough to beat sensationally Ukraine Otamans’ tough Valerii Kharlamov. In the last Heavyweight class (91 kg) bout former ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Champion Zhang Zhe led after three rounds against Ukraine Otamans’ Dmytro Lisovyi but his European rival was still fresh in the final three minutes when he overcame the Chinese boxer.
