Belgibayev, Fiaschetti and Kurbonov amazed in the finals of the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament

The last session of boxing was held in the fifth competition day at the 20th anniversary edition of the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament in Kostanay, North Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan’s Akzhigit Belgibayev was too strong for his opponents at the flyweight (52kg) but Tajikistan’s Ramoil Kurbonov also impressed in the day of the finals.
The Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament was an important preparation event before the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships which is scheduled to be held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia this November. Altogether 105 boxers attended for the medals and prizes in the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament.
This strong men’s youth competition was named by Ural and Korgan Aitenov. Kostanay is located in the Northern part of Kazakhstan and has been hosting the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament in the recent 19 years. Boxers who were born in 2001 or in 2002 were eligible to attend in the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament in Kostanay.
The men’s youth event was held in ten different weight categories: light flyweight (49kg), flyweight (52kg), bantamweight (56kg), lightweight (60kg), light welterweight (64kg), welterweight (69kg), middleweight (75kg), light heavyweight (81kg), heavyweight (91kg) and super heavyweight (+91kg).

Kazakhstan’s Temirlan Aytan won the light flyweight (49kg) in Kostanay
The level of the boxers at the light flyweight (49kg) was world class in the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament. Uzbekistan’s favourite Dilshod Abduvaliev was not able to advance to the finals of the category in Kostanay and Temirlan Aytan used the opportunity to win the lowest category in the event. He had a few difficulties against Tajikistan’s Sorbon Karimov in the first round but he stepped into the gas in the second and landed tough punches. Aytan not only controlled that part but the referee stopped their contest and confirmed the Kazakh boxer’s RSC success in Kostanay.

Kazakhstan’s Akzhigit Belgibayev won the flyweight (52kg) in a quick bout
Kazakhstan’s Taraz-based Akzhigit Belgibayev is not an experienced boxer yet but he was able to beat his opponents during his road to the finals in Kostanay. The 17-year-old talent exceeded all of the previous expectations with his unexpected successes and finally he captured the gold medal as well. Belgibayev had to face in the final of the flyweight (52kg) with Italy’s EUBC European Junior Champion Michele Baldassi for the title. The Kazakh boxer used his powerful rhythm to shock his European opponent and the Italian ringside abandoned their final still in the first round.

Abzalbek Amangeldi defeated Kyrgyzstan’s Mirzokhid Imamnazarov in the final of the lightweight (60kg)
The lightweight (60kg) was a crowded and another tough category in the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament in Kostanay. Kyrgyzstan’s new sensation Mirzokhid Imamnazarov claimed an unexpected bronze medal in the world’s most difficult youth competition at the Pavlyukov Memorial Tournament in Russia this April and advanced to the finals to Kostanay as well. The 17-year-old Kyrgyz boxer was not enough fresh in the title bout and received tough punches from Almaty region’s Abzalbek Amangeldi who won their final by RSC.

Tajikistan’s lone gold medal was achieved by Ramoil Kurbonov at the middleweight (75kg)
Tajikistan’s Ramoil Kurbonov competed in high number of international events in the recent two years and he is ready to do big things in the major events as well in 2019. The 18-year-old Tajik middleweight (75kg) boxer defeated strong rivals in the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament and he was still hungry to win the last bout in the competition. Kurbonov was slightly better than Kazakhstan’s Odil Sattibekov in their spectacular final and claimed Tajikistan’s lone title in Kostanay.

Italy’s Vincenzo Fiaschetti knocked out his final opponent at the super heavyweight (+91kg)
The Italian team attended at the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament at the very first time in the history of the event. Several of their boxers claimed medals in Kostanay but their best result was delivered by EUBC European Confederation Youth Boxing Championships silver medallist Vincenzo Fiaschetti. The Italian moved up to the super heavyweight (+91kg) this year but his strength was too much for Kazakhstan’s N. Aitmirza who suffered a KO loss from Fiaschetti on Day5.
