Bangladesh will compete with professional talents and a US-based female boxer in Chiang Mai

Same as the Syrian delegation, Bangladesh will send one female and two male boxers to the upcoming ASBC Asian Elite Men and Women Boxing Championships which will be held in Chiang Mai, Thailand from November 28 and will be lasting until December 12.

Bangladesh competed at the very first time in the Asian Boxing Championships in the 1977 which edition was held in Jakarta, Indonesia. The Bangladesh Boxing Federation sent eight boxers to the Indonesian capital and among them Abdul Halim and Abdur Rauf Khan were able to get bronze medals in 1977.

Their valuable two medals were Bangladesh’s first podium places in the Asian Boxing Championships and the country is aiming for new strong achievements in the upcoming Chiang Mai edition. Bangladesh returned to the level of the ASBC events in Al Ain, UAE where their junior team competed this August-September.

Zinnat Ferdous will represent Bangladesh as a lone female boxer in their travelling team to Chiang Mai but she has strong achievements this year. Ferdous lives and trains in New York, in the United States and since 2022, she competed in most of their national events. She joined to Team Bangladesh in the 2023 Asian Games and she claimed medals in various preparation tournament in the Dominican Republic, in South Africa and in Poland.

Mohamed Utshob Ahmed is a 20-year-old professional boxer who made his debut in gala events in 2022. The Rajshahi-based boxer has 9-0 record among the professionals and he is aiming for a medal in the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships in Chiang Mai. He holds the WBC Asian Silver Super Flyweight Title, which he earned on May 2024, therefore his participation, is highly awaited in Chiang Mai.

Emon Tongchangya turned 19 earlier this month and the teenager will be competing at the middleweight (75kg) in Chiang Mai. He is also a professional boxer as Mohamed Utshob Ahmed and he has the current record of 2-0.
