Bahrain arranged a fantastic Gulf event

Bahrain arranged a fantastic event for the Gulf Countries in the Dilmun Club which was an amazing open tournament for the region’s best boxers.

The event was very popular in Bahrain, hundreds of boxing fans gathered in the Dilmun Club to watch their favourites in the event which had two sessions.

After their first National Championships, the Royal Rumble Gala and the Bahrain National Sports Day, their next competition was a strong international challenge in the Dilmun Boxing Club.

Maryam Khamis is one of the best female boxers in Bahrain who had a meeting with a superb regional rival at the women’s featherweight (57kg), Qatar’s Dana Al-Jabor. The local girl tried to overcome Qatar’s No.1 in the attacks and Khamis worked well enough to win their exciting contest in Dilmun.

Kuwait Abdulrahman Alshareef had the clear advantage on the judges’ scorecards after two rounds of fight against Bahrain’s Ibrahim Abdulla but he increased his rhythm in the third. Kuwait’s pride finished the job in the last round and the referee confirmed his RSC victory at the men’s bantamweight (54kg).

Bahrain’s Ali Bukhlaf competed for his national in several international events including the 2021 edition of the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships in Dubai. After four years of strong experience and hard work in the gym, he won the international event at the elite light welterweight (63.5kg) after beating Prakash Limbu, a Nepali-descent boxer.

United Arab Emirates’ duo such as Zaid Touqan (63.5kg) and Abdullah Muhammad (71kg) both defeated their local opponents, Ali Mohammed and Dany Ellahib in the second session of the international competition.

Oman began to develop boxing in their homeland and one of their boxers, Saif Alyaqubi delivered a major surprise in the competition. The middleweight (75kg) talent was not only competitive for Bahrain’s Abdulaziz Bushager but he won their tight bout by 3:2 split decision.

Abbasgulu Shadlinskiy represented Azerbaijan in several competitions in the past and he was one of the stars of the competition. The teenager defeated Bahrain’s Anas Alzallaqi in the elite light heavyweight (80kg), controlling all of the three rounds with his longer hands.

Kuwait sent also a team to the international competition and the country continued its excellent super heavyweight (+92kg) traditions. Their Wahab Alshaya landed the stronger punches against Bahrain’s Michael Douglas and he won the battle of the king’s class.
