Astana Arlans Kazakhstan won its third WSB title after beating Cuba Domadores 6-5 in the Final
Astana Arlans Kazakhstan has done an amazing comeback after 2-5 in the WSB Final against Cuba Domadores and the franchise won their third WSB title in Astana. After ten contests the result was tied 5-5 but Olzhas Bayniyazov did amazing success in the additional bout and Astana Arlans Kazakhstan took the trophy in Season VII. After these spectacular finals Astana Arlans Kazakhstan is the lone three-time WSB champion among the franchises.
In the opening bout of the WSB Final Astana Arlans Kazakhstan’s former ASBC Asian Champion Temirtas Zhussupov exceeded the expectations against Cuba Domadores’ AIBA World Champion Joahnys Oscar Argilagos. The Kazakh light flyweight (49kg) boxer controlled mainly the first, second and fourth rounds which performance was enough to take the lead for Astana Arlans in the WSB Final.
Incheon 2014 Asian Games winner Ilyas Suleimenov was confident against Cuba Domadores’ Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games gold medallist Javier Ibanez and his tactic worked well in the whole bout. The experienced Kazakh bantamweight (56kg) boxer was in top shape, he was a hard target for Ibanez and won their contest by unanimous decision.
Cuba Domadores’ Rio 2016 Olympic Games bronze medallist and AIBA World Boxing Championships silver medallist Erislandy Savon dominated his heavyweight (91kg) bout against Astana Arlans Kazakhstan’s Anton Pinchuk which was the first success of the Caribbeans in the WSB Final. Cuba Domadores’ second success was delivered by their unbeaten star Andy Cruz who was slightly better than Astana Arlans Kazakhstan’s promising hope Dilmurat Mizhitov.
In the fifth and last bout of the first part of the WSB Finals Kazakhstan’s teenage star Abilkhan Amankul was not enough shape this time against Cuba Domadores’ Rio 2016 Olympic Champion Arlen Lopez. The Cuban boxer lost three WSB bouts already in Season VII but this time he was in much better form and defeated Amankul in their middleweight (75kg) contest which was a key battle of the Finals.
In the first bout of the second part of the WSB Finals Astana Arlans Kazakhstan’s Arman Rysbek started aggressively against Cuba Domadores’ Rio 2016 Olympic Games winner and three-time AIBA World Champion Julio Cesar La Cruz. The Cuban boxer found his rhythm in the second round and his counter-attacking style with world class footwork delivered for him a success at the light heavyweight (81kg).
Cuba Domadores’ Yosbany Veitia lost to Astana Arlans Kazakhstan’s Olzhas Sattibayev in the Season V Final two years ago but the Caribbean boxer worked better in their repeat match today and won their contest by unanimous decision. Astana Arlans Kazakhstan’s super heavyweight (+91kg) boxer, National Champion Olzhas Bukayev delivered his best ever performance in the eighth contest of the WSB Final and won his bout against Cuba’s Yoandry Toirac by unanimous decision.
Astana Arlans Kazakhstan’s ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships silver medallist Zakir Safiullin used attacking style against Cuba’s three-time AIBA World Champion Lazaro Alvarez and shocked his star rival. The Kazakh lightweight (60kg) boxer was energetic and powerful against his star rival and delivered the main sensation of the day with his triumph over Alvarez.
Astana Arlans Kazakhstan’s welterweight (69kg) No.1 Aslanbek Shymbergenov defeated Cuba’s London 2012 Olympic Games winner Roniel Iglesias two years ago and he was able to repeat that superb performance in the WSB Final in Astana. Shymbergenov’s triumph meant an additional bout was needed to decide the title of Season VII. Belgrade Winner Tournament gold medallist Olzhas Bayniyazov was newcomer in the World Series of Boxing but the flyweight (52kg) but his skills were enough to beat Cuba’s Frank Zaldivar therefore Astana Arlans Kazakhstan won the whole Season VII.
