ASBC reveals final dates and host cities for elite, schoolboys & schoolgirls tournaments

The Asian Boxing Confederation (ASBC) has announced the final dates and host cities for this year’s Asian Elite Men’s & Women’s Boxing Championships as well as the Asian Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Boxing Championships.

The elite tourney was rescheduled anew for October 30 to November 13, with the venue set in Amman, Jordan.

Back in March, the Jordanian capital hosted the Asian Youth & Junior Championships where a total of 355 promising boxers from 21 nations were able to attend thanks to more flexible COVID-19 measures.

The previous elite competition was held two years ago in Dubai, United Arab Emirates where Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia and India emerged as the best teams. The event also helped Olympians prepare for the Tokyo Summer Games.

Meanwhile, the schoolboys and schoolgirls tilt is slated to go underway on November 27 until December 4 in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq.

It will be the second edition for the boys division of the competition for 13 and 14-year-old boxers following the inaugural hosting in Kuwait back in 2019 while the girls category will take place for the first time.

The ASBC has already informed all the national federations through email and teams can now start their preparations for the upcoming championships.

Last January, the ASBC organized the first-ever Asian U22 Boxing Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan where 11 other countries participated despite heightened restrictions due to new COVID-19 strains.
